Hi Everyone.

I am after some help plz. I don't know how to begin. I do have specific questions but just to brief you. I am a 28 year old and had a lump that I did not care about. I will get back to this later. i am very concerned about my mum.

5 days ago my mum (50) noticed a lump. She asked and got ultrasound and mammogram. She is in Syria where medicine is poor at the moment. I am in the UK and I tried to get help but as she is not here no gp will do actually help

Her mass is irregular, hard, no definite edges...has got some vessels and is said to be: highly likely to be malignant. it is 19 mm *13 mm *11 mm

they did a biopsy and it should be out tomorrow but I am very very very stressed. Can anyone plz answer some questions:

1- has anyone had a mass with same description but turned out to be banign?

2- If they remove the whole breast will she need chemo and further treatment?

3- Is it painful?

As for my case ( I was breastfeeding) : in June I had a very hard lump and it was very stiff. felt like it has got waves on it. not painful at all. they did US and said it is not filled with liquid and that I really need a core biopsy. I freaked out. I cried and refused the biopsy so they brought a fine needle and insterted it and out came somthing white which they said it might be " hardened milk"

Because I had no family history and because of breastfeeding they dismissed this.

I then stopped breastfeeding. The lump is bigger. More "waves" on it. My breast is a bit painful but no specific spot. I feel it is like": aches"

What scared me more is that I have " endometriosis" and after some research it turns out it has a correlation with cancer or I might get the latter.

1- Has any one had a " hardened milk" mass?

2- anyone with endometriosis and cancer?

3- Should I ask for the genetic test?


I would really appreciate your help. I don't know what to do. I am very worried about my mum and now also thinking my me 1 year old and 3 year old children . :(

    HaneenHoms, we are really sorry for all the worry you are experiencing.

    Trying to understand, your situations: your mum had a needle biopsy and you get the results tomorrow. We naturally would like to hear about the results, and truly hoping that they are benign!!! We are thinking of you!

    As for you, when do you receive the final pathology report for your biopsy?

    We understand how overwhelming this must feel - You and your mom in a similar situation. We are sorry you are going through this.

    We don't have specific answers to your questions, though others will hopefully share their experiences.

    I have just got the report and I don't understand it

    I googled stuff and i think it is invasive? what does that mean? what are the chances?

    Plz someone help me.

    th gp won't give info as my mum is not in the Uk ( she's in Syria )

    And I want to help her and feel devastated.


    the report says :

    presence of numerous aggregates of malignant neoplastic cells ductal carinomatous type

    is there any medication I can take for anxiety and fear ormaybe depression? I feel a mess.

    Yes, Haneen you can ask your doctor for anxiety medication. Is that report yours or your mother's?

    My motherrs. Her doctor did not explain it at all. They have large numbers of patients in hospitals in syria.

    I know it's cancer but is it bad?

    Well, with the information you gave it is impossible to tell if this is a bad prognosis. Will they be meeting with your mother? Things she will need to know is if lymph nodes were effected, the size of the tumors and if the tumors are Her2 positive or negative. She will also need to find out if the tumors are positive for estogen and progesterone.

    Will she get these info before or after surgery? They did a biopsy and said in the ultra sound they can only see only the single lump. But asked for an MRI ( without explaining why? but I guess to see if in other places)

    one surgeon said to remove the whole breast and another to remove only the lump . and my mum does not know what to choose.

    it is 19 mm *13 mm *11 mm

    is that big ?

    will chemotherapy hurt?

    Before she makes any decisions about treatment, she will need to find out the other information first. As far as chemo, it is very doable now adays. They give medication to help with nausea. There are different types of chemo depending on tumor factors.

    Yes, once she finds out more information and a treatment plan things do get better. BC is very treatable no matter stage. I wish you and your mother luck!
