Here we go again....

Hi everyone,
Here's my story....I am 41. 4 kids. June of 2016 I found a lump in my right breast, I'd say above the nipple at about 12:00, during SBE. It was probably grape-sized. Round to oval in shape and somewhat hard, but still kinda of "squishy". Pretty smooth, with pretty distinct edges. Seemed to move around quite a bit, was just under the surface and was painful. It also fluctuated with my menstrual cycle. Everything that I had read told me it was a cyst, but I was still scared. Had mammogram and ultrasound. Determined to be a cyst and there were actually a few of them, but I couldn't feel the other ones. They aspirated the large one because it was painful. Got letter after mammo saying that I have heterogeneous dense breasts and to follow up every year.
November 2016, found the same type of lump in my left breast. Pretty much the same spot as the right one had been, but this one seemed larger. Still painful. Mammo and ultrasound. Determined to be a bilobed cyst. Drained 9mL of cloudy yellow fluid. Nothing biopsied that I'm aware of. I got another letter about my dense breasts. It went away as far as I could tell. Told to follow up with another mammo and US in June 2017. Felt some cysts come and go, but knew to follow them through a cycle or two, or I'd be getting my boobs squished all the time. LOL! Never felt anything other than the ones that came and went, so I skipped the recommended mammo in 2017.
Fast forward to today. I have now had a large lump in my left breast through 2-3 cycles. I'm not good with metric, so I'm going to say that it's about 2-3" long by about 1" wide. It is not round like my others, it's oval or oblong. This seems more like a thicker, flattened piece of Silly Putty. It feels rough. The edges feel bumpy. It moves if I really jam it around, but yet feels attached to the tissue surrounding it. No pain from it unless I've been molesting it for a few minutes. Where the other ones felt pretty superficial, this one feels quite deep, although when my arm is raised, it is very easy to feel, but I only have B cups, so I'm sure that makes it easier. If you imagine my breast as a clock, with my nipple being at 12:00 and the top of the lump as the small hand and the bottom of the lump as the big hand....the top of the lump starts between 11 and 12 (pretty much under the nipple) and extends towards 4-5. So if I could read time by my lump, I would say it's about 11 or 12:20-25. Lol! I would say that from all sides, it doesn't extend more than 1" in any direction from the nipple, or should I say, areola. It does not feel like my other lumps in any way, shape or form. It hasn't changed with my cycles at all and I don't even know it's there unless I push on it. In the little over a year that I went between mammograms, I can't say how often I did my BSE, so I can't say how long it was there, but I did check randomly & only noticed that this was there within the last 3 months.
Doc felt it last week and referred me for diagnostic mammo and ultrasound, which will be this coming Wednesday. I 'm just looking for thoughts. I know all lumps are different from person to person, and I know there's no way to know until it's looked at, but I just need to converse about this I guess. This one feels so different from my other cysts. I don't like it. I don't know if it makes any sense at all, but it FEELS dirty. It FEELS like it has substance, not just a fluid filled cyst.
Sorry for the long post and thank you for allowing me to vent.

Hi,
I just wanted to say to try not to worry to much. As they say 80% of lumps are benign. Possibility of a fibroadenoma. They are solid. I had two of them. One cycle and a BSE there was nothing then the next time I did a BSE there was a lump. Did not hurt, not even if I touched it. Even some cysts have solid stuff inside. Complicated Cyst. Had one of those also, which until it was biopsied, all I knew was that it was a lump. Was not even called a cyst because it was solid.
Hope it all turns out in your favor.

What you’re feeling sounds similar to what I felt in my left breast last fall. It was determined to be a complex cyst, but my doctor will keep an eye on it with future checkups.
I hope you’ll keep us posted

@beach .... I know I shouldn’t worry too much, but I have anxiety issues on good days. This time is just like the last two, I spend every waking moment researching all angles of anything it could be. Which freaks me out more, but is also calming in a sense. Like reading the posts here....makes me see that even if I do get bad news, it is not an automatic death sentence.

@mom.... What I remember from my last cyst, is that the report said there was debris in it. Does that make it complex?
I just feel like something was missed and they should’ve biopsied the fluid. Although, this one is in a slightly different location, so I don’t think it’s the same one.
Basically, I’m just a naturally nervous nelly. I always expect and fear the worst. I usually manage my anxiety on my own, but I may need to ask the doctor about some Ativan that I can use until I have the results, or I’ll never sleep or get my homework done (nursing school will kill me if cancer doesn’t. Lol) I don’t know, this one feels different. I can’t wven explain it, but when I touch it, it just feels bad.
Anyway.....thank you for listening and replying. It helps to talk. I try not to say much to my husband or family because I don’t want to scare them unless I have to. I’ll defin report back after my appointment on Wednesday.

That’s a good question, but unfortunately I’m not sure. They didn’t drain any fluid from it, since it doesn’t really bother me.
I definitely think a chat with your doctor about some Ativan could be a good idea.

WhySoLumpy, we hope for all to be benign. It sounds though like you are really confronting your anxieties, and feelings, and this is good, and not easy.
We're all here for you, and please do let us know what you hear on Wednesday!

Just got home from my mammo and US. I had a 3cm cyst in my left breast that she aspirated and my right had a bunch that we just left alone. YAY!!
Following that appointment I had an ultrasound at my OB/GYN because of abnormal bleeding. I have fibroids. Meeting next week to talk about whether I want to try medication, removal or hysterectomy.
Thank you all for the support!!
