Can anyone give me their experience of a ductal excision. I'm anxious about the process as well as results.

In the past 2 months I've had a benign biopsy of a cluster of micro-calcifications, I've been diagnosed with the PalB2 gene, and most recently discovered bloody ND, that showed atypical cells and is the reason for the surgery tomorrow.

I'm nervous about what they will find especially having such a high risk for BC. I'd rather be prepared than not. My stomach is in knots.

Thanks ladies!

I can see why you're concerned. You're on the right track. I'm not familiar with duct excision, as I had a lumpectomy, but I would think the recovery would be similar. Pain control, ice packs, and rest a few days. Then wait for pathology--that's the worst part, IMO.

What are they recommending about the PALB2?

They are recommending a DBL mastectomy. It's in the plans, just a matter of when to do it. The pathology will determine how soon or not. I'm just concerned because they're slicing a bit of the nipple. Ugh... the nerves!

    Thanks for your reply!

*nods* I ended up having double mastectomy due to PALB2. My particular cancer was somewhat aggressive, so i needed to get rid of those puppies before they did me any more harm.
