This morning I have my excisional biopsy.I’m so ready to be off this roller coaster soon!

    Thank you! I’m all done, heading home from the surgery center now. My BS said she took about a walnut to golf ball size area. I’m pretty sore, but I took a couple of norcos before I left. Now I’m just ready to rest up and eat some lunch :

    I'm  so glad that the surgery is over for you. Be sure to take it easy for several days and use the ice packs. I hope you can get a good nights sleep tonight. You might want to take a Norco before bed so you don't wake up in the middle of the  night in pain. Let us know how your recovery goes and I am praying for a B9 result!

    I’m taking advantage of being told to take it easy :). I tried the ice pack, but there is so much gauze padding there that it doesn’t do a whole lot. Luckily the norco is helping! I had one bout of nausea a little bit after I got home, but it passed pretty quickly. Oh, and I got a super sexy stretchy bra with Velcro closure in the front haha

    The cold packs will help, even through the gauze

    Lucky me - now I’m getting to enjoy nausea and vomiting! I felt fine up until about 6:30. I’m assuming it’s residual from the anesthesia, since it hit a few hours after my last dose of Norco.

    I’m feeling better this morning, although I’m still really sore. I’m so glad I took today off of work as well.

    So today I finally broke down in front of my husband. I can definitely tell I’m missing part of my breast, and I took it pretty hard. I know in the grand scheme of things this is minor, but it just makes this roller coaster seem so real.

    So I got impatient and called my BS to see if the results are back...and nope - still waiting! The nurse said the biopsy is still being processed.

    I knew it was kind of a long shot - the paper from the BS said it would take 2-3 working days, but I wasn't sure if that included the day of the surgery.

    Not yet. I'm sure that means everything is benign since there hasn't been a rush to get the results to me. I would just like to hear it from the doctor.

    Shame man. I swear the waiting is the worst part, and I personally can never figure out if they take longer because it's nothing or it it's something! I am SURE it's absolutely nothing big and scary, and hope for your sake they get back to you soonest!

    BTW - How did they diagnose the radial scar with atypical ductal hyperplasia and why did they decide to do the excisional?

    Just curious as from my results and what the infamous Dr Google can deduce, I think I may have the same or a benign inflammatory fibroblastic tumor or even more likely a diabetic mastopathy. They found some atypical cells in my core needle biopsy, but can't say for sure what it is so I am headed for a MRI and an excisional biopsy on Monday morning.

    Holding thumbs and crossing all the crossables that you get an answer soonest!

    Thanks Courtz! I was diagnosed with a radial scar and ADH when I had my needle biopsy a month ago. My BS said the recommendation is to remove them to make sure nothing else is lurking.

    Good news - no cancer cells found in the biopsy! I do have ADH, along with intraductal papillomas, so my surgeon considers me high risk now. We discussed tamoxifen, but since I’m just 42 she isn’t recommending it at this time. She did say I could follow up with a medical oncologist...not sure if I need to go down that road yet.

    At least I get a bit of a reprieve - next mammogram will be in December

    I'm glad it was not cancer! I had ADH as well. My doctor wants me to go on Tamoxifen, but I'm hesitant, as I'm 43 and it was just ADH. I promised him I would at least talk to the oncologist before I make up my mind. I'm now high risk as well, so I have a mammo on the left breast in six months with an US, and a mammo on both breasts six months after that, with an MRI. Every six month rotation.

    I think I will reach out to an MO, just to get a follow up opinion. I’ll have an MRI in June 2019.

    While I’m relieved now, I feel like I’m a ticking time bomb. But I’m going to do my best to put it at the back of my mind for now

    Momto3sons and Teacher mom, I'm so happy for your good news! But yep, now you need to figure out how not to over-react on under-react, right? Hope you do have the chance to savor the good news first and be thoughtful about next steps. My MO was amazing and I am hoping the same for you.
