False Hope
Finally had my MRI guided core needle biopsy this morning. I originally had my MRI that detected the suspicious areas done at another facility.
After checking in, starting my IV and waiting the doctor came in and explained that he wasn’t sure there was really a suspicious spot and I may not need the biopsy! I became so excited and optimistic. They put me into the machine and ran the contrast then pulled me back out and explained that the doctor was reviewing my scan. A few minutes later he came in and confirmed that there was in fact a suspicious spot and that I would need the biopsy.
This has been a total mind game and emotional roller coaster.
I have a strong family history and several abnormal scans and just praying it’s fibrocistic changes.
Here’s my MRI report...

I had the same thing happen when I went in for my MRI-guided biopsy. The radiologist said that the spot on the MRI was very subtle, so there was a chance it wouldn't "light up" when they did the MRI for the biopsy. It must have lit up enough for them to proceed
It turns out I have a radial scar and atypical ductal hyperplasia. I'm having an excisional biopsy on Thursday to have that removed.

Layne,
Having a biopsy is a good idea because something is there, the thing is that just don't know what it is. Could it be cancer? Yes that is possible. It can very well be benign, too.
Many things show up on MRIs, and that includes benign things.
Hang in there. Let us know what the pathology shows

Thank you. I’m hoping (praying) it’s benign. I have to say, this definitely tests your strength! We’re tough chicks and I’m thankful we can all connect and support each other.
I’ll definitely keep you posted
-
I would go for mri guided biopsy, then you will know.
-
That’s what I had done today. They said they “obliterated” the area in question. They said I won’t have the results till next week but I’m hoping it’ll be this week
-
sorry Layne, my medical group has pretty fast turn around. I had an MRI biopsy just a day after suspicious area found then got my results with 2 days. Doctor called me at 7:30pm Friday night that all was good. The radiologist called me Monday to tell me. Glad I didn't have to wait the weekend to know.

I think that’s what has been the most stressful part about all of this is the constant waiting. This all started in November! But I’m excited to hopefully get positive results and move on. Once I heal I’m treating myself to a massage because this stress has wrecked my body.
Praying I don’t have to go through the weekend without word though...

I got my call from my doctor today and everything looks great and benign!!
You ladies are in my prayers and some of the strongest women I know! Keep the faith and stay strong!
Thank you for all your support during one of the scariest times of my life

Fantastic news Laynie!! I am a BC survivor of 21 years and have an appointment with a BS after an inconclusive mammogram and ultrasound. I am praying for no recurrence! Praying that I receive great news just like you
-
Great news!
Rhonda, hoping you get good news too!
-
Good news!

That’s great news Laynie
-
Rhonda I will keep you in my prayers!!

Thanks Kbeee! The waiting is insane! I have access to my ultrasound report and I am too afraid to review it. Being here on this board gives me hope and the courage I need to face the days ahead. My nerves are shot...every pain I feel in my irradiated breast make me think the big “C" is back. I've felt the same stabbing pains (Lymphedema) for 21 years but now it is different since I know that I have had a recent inconclusive mammogram and ultrasound. It is hard to believe that you can't have cancer again when you've had it before
-
Thank you so much Laynie
-
Prayers going out for you too Rhonda
-
I hope it has turned out well for you🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻. Have you had your biopsy?
Wishing good vibes your way
