How long on pain meds?

I’m having a simple double mastectomy without reconstruction. If you had this procedure how many days did take pain meds?

What type did you take?

    I took no opioids and no over the counter medications, just lorazepam (for muscle spasms in my chest). I had less pain and discomfort from BMX than I did from the biopsies (which I found very painful). I was happy to have something stronger around just in case, but never needed it.

    I only had a single mx, but I only used Tylenol a couple times after, no opioids either. They used some long acting anesthetic during the surgery that got me through the first 2 days, but I don’t remember what it’s called

    I had a double MX with tissue expanders under my pecs and was off pain meds completely within 6 days. Hardly any taken on day 5-6. I took lots of Tylenol to supplement. I couldn’t stand pain meds - especially constipation it causes. Not worth it.

    Best wishes to you for your upcoming surgery. You should have an easier recovery without reconstruction but I can only give an opinion of what I experienced and I weaned off that stuff quickly.

    I didn’t even need Tylenol.

    I didn't need anything for pain, but I did use the percocet to help me get to sleep.

    As long as I was careful and didn't over-exert or over stretch (or worse, tug the drains and the awful stitch that held them in place) the worst I had was some mild aching (like a bruise feeling) and some occasional 'stinging' feelings like you'd have with a healing cut.

    I had a bmx with tissue expanders under the pec. I'm post op day 10 and will still take 1 Percocet at night. I just have lots of stinging pain especially when I lie down. Plus I started out with a very small chest so I feel like those tissue expanders we're really stuffed in there. I try to just do ibuprofen and Tylenol during the day but I gotta say I do hurt still a fair amount.
