Hi - after my lumpectomy, my right arm was slightly swollen - bracelet left indentations in it, fingers also big. Also had cording.Went away on its own quickly. Now 8 months later I’m near the end of rads and I have a swollen right shoulder blade that feels tingly. Can this be a sign of lymphedema?

Thanks!

I'm thinking so but I hope not. If it’s bettef in morn and gets worse as day progresses it could be lymphedema.See a qualified lymphedema therapist for assessment. Might be early stage and reversible. Catch it early and have less problems. Mine feels like a rubbery boiled egg at the back of my pit. Sometimes my blade area stings like a light bee sting. It comes and goes.

Thanks for responding! I’ll get it checked out. Surgeon says”it can’t be” because I only got two nodes out, but doctors seem to doubt anything that doesn’t follow an expected pattern.

VL22, I am sorry that you're having a difficult time. I have a lot of neck and shoulder pain that seems to be related to all the parts of this process from biopsy to mastectomy to rads to recon. I also have tingling in my fingers. Everything has been inconclusive so far, so I'm seeing a pain management doctor in a few weeks. There seems to be a lot of it could be this or that without any definitive answers! If you get any definites please share! Best to you

VL. Your doc is not that well informed. You can get le from only one node out or for that matter you can get le from any kind of surgery or trauma to your body. Yes it's less risk with little nodes but not impossible. If you read here you will find lots with one node out and le. The best thing to do is stick around here and learn as much as you can and be proactive.

Also radiation can fry your nodes.

Yup my doc laughed straight into my face and said I wouldn't get le when I inquired about it Yup here I am.

Tingling, tired or pins needles or achy are some signs. Pretty much anything that doesn't feel like your normal arm. That said we do have those feelings coming out of recovery from surgery so it's always best to see a lymphedema therapist to pre measure your limb and educate you.

    Hang in there
