Hi,

I am a 26 year old female (turning 27 in a few hours) and I noticed a small rubbery lump on my right breast about a month ago. My physician ordered me a mammogram but was told that they don't do a mammogram for women my age and instead did a ultrasound and the doctor showed me the image of a black mass and the doctor told me that she wasn't happy that the upper half of the mass looked round/angular but the bottom half wasn't well defined and ordered a biopsy and I have it scheduled for next Tuesday and I am worried sick. I know I probably shouldn't be googling every single article out there but most of them suggest that I could have cancer. I have no family history, I spend hours at the gym everyday, eat healthy food and don't drink/ smoke and I hate the fact that I could be diagnosed with cancer. Seems so unreal.

I haven't told any friends or family about this and posting here if anyone's listening and has something to say to me. :)

Ava, lots of times benign things just don't have a characteristic "textbook benign" appearance on imaging but that is in fact what they turn out to be. The odds are highly in your favor that this will prove to be the case. Fingers crossed for you!

Hi Ava! Sorry you are going through this! Sounds like your doctor is being very cautious which is good. But given your age it is highly unlikely to be anything bad. Fingers crossed for you! Keep us updated on how the biopsy goes

    Hello, Ava,

Hopefully all will turn out well. You can only research on trusted medical sites, not just on a search engine looking up breast cancer. They will having you buy funeral clothes.

This will be a hard week for you to wait through.

Just try to remember a huge number of biopsies are benign.

    Best of luck

Ava, they DO mammograms for women your age if the doctor orders a DIAGNOSTIC mammogram not a regular one.

At your age, the odds of this being benign vs malign are about 99 to 1. You didn't specify if you had children or not and if you breastfed or not. That is very important. Nevertheless, it seems that in the past decade how healthy we live our lives doesn't really matter as we keep seeing people who live a healthy lifestyle being affected by cancer the same as people not doing so.

Most of the time it's either a clogged milk duct or a fatty lump, but until you get the results of the biopsy nobody can say for sure.

    Keep us posted, please.

Mammograms on younger women with dense breasts can be hard to read. They sometimes do MRIs. Biopsy is the only definitive way to know for sure, so it is good your doctor is being cautious, and also so good that you are so on top of your health to get it examined right away. From my experience "rubbery" feeling is good. I have had 5 biopsies. The 3 rubbery, movable ones were benign, andthe 2 that felt like frozen peas were not. Everyone is different thoguh. Statistics are highly in your favor. Waiting is very hard though, so try to plan a full weekend of things to do to distract yourself. Do keep us posted.

I am so lost and very confused. About 6 months ago (possibly longer) I noticed a lump in my right breast. Over the past months a lot has changed. I have lost quite a bit of weight, in July 2017 I weighted 220 and now I'm 154, an while that may seem great actually it isn't I am not try to. I have massive daily headaches, no appetite and no energy. The lump has gotten large and last week I began have a pinkish discharge from my left nipple then the next day it was coming from my right. I have had a 3d diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound done along with an large number of labs. My mammogram ACR cat was a 1 with scattered fibrograndular densities bilaterly, and my vit d was almost non existant. They made no notation of the lump that my doctor had felt at all in the report. It is round does not move and there is no pain, my ariolas have changed color as well and my nipples have become inverted. I am 32 with 2 children and a husband. I just want to feel like me again and figure out what is going on. Report suggested to see a surgeon for the nipple discharge. Anyone have any information? Thank you.

    Dear mtxbucchi0315,

We are so sorry that you find yourself here and in this current situation. It is hard for us to know what is going on but it sure does sound like you need more medical follow up to get to the bottom of the changes that you have been experiencing. Perhaps even circling back to your family physician to help you see your way through what is causing these issues might be in your best interest. The MOds
