What is this for?

I met with the surgeon today. It all went well except for one thing. She mentioned putting in a rf marker two days before the surgery. They already put in a tag when they did the biopsy. Why would they do this? She said it is somewhat painful to get the shots. I know I should’ve asked her what this was for but I was busy digesting all of the information. Thanks

Are they talking about the injections for detecting the sentinel nodes? I had injections done the afternoon before my surgery. It's a combination of radioactive and dye substances to help them locate the right lymph nodes to remove for testing during the surgery.

My BS gave me a prescription for Emla cream beforehand. I put a big glob of it on the nipple and covered that with plastic wrap about an hour before the procedure. The needle sticks weren't too bad. I think I was expecting much worse. About an hour of massaging my breast later - they scanned again to verify the disbursement and sent me home.

Thanks not very brave. Maybe that’s what she’s talking about. She talked about a lot of shots around the nipple that could be painful. She also said rf marker. And injections. Maybe I misunderstood her

That’s exactly what it is. A Savi Scout. I just got off the phone with my BS. Has anyone had this done
