    Hi,

I have wondered the same thing and have not been able to get much information regarding this very topic.

I am one of the unlucky ones to have this happen. I reached a pcr in 2014 after chemo. Followed by a lumpectomy and rads. I finished Herceptin that year in November. I was able to get my first mammogram in February the following year and I pushed for an MRI because I had really dense breasts. By the time I got the MRI approved later in the spring, we found DCIS with a tiny area of microinvasion. So it was a no brainer for me to have a double mastectomy. Followed by more chemo and Herceptin and Perjeta for the full year this time. I just finished this past November and am now super nervous about it coming back again

I've had the same question about recurrence after pCR. It must be horribly disappointing to have that happen. I can't even imagine.

I was stage 2 only because of the size of the lump. I had a BMX for a number of reasons and, while I know there are no guarantees, I feel like I've done all I could with initial treatment.

I worry quite a bit about surveillance now.
