rpoole I got in sooner by going through the international department. It's kinda confusing but it did work for me. The MO you will see is like a triage doc. After evaluating you, he will refer you to the right specialty. Lots of tests, forms, nurses, PA, New path report, etc. Two days of stuff. Then like magic, I was seeing a breast cancer specialist the next day who prescribed the treatment.

I remember being totally shocked when I realized I was being triaged. I knew the MDA path would have to do their own path on my tumor. Then I realized they get people from all over the world in that department. They have to recheck their path in order to get them sent to the right department for the right type of cancer.

I don't even remember the breast specialists name. I saw her PA more than Dr. That was a year ago and I've been seen and treated only by my local MO. That depends on what TX you need, of course.

Maybe trying this angle will help you get in sooner. I sure hope so.

    Hi Ladies,

I communicated with Robin over email. She asked me to let everyone know how much she appreciates your prayers and support. She was able to receive her second Abraxane treatment last week and says that "things are moving in the right direction." Her liver markers are all back in the normal ranges! She's thinking about everyone and will jump back in when she's feeling stronger. She asks that we keep the prayers coming!

Z, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for starting this thread. This means a lot to me, and I felt all the love and prayers by reading each and every post! You ladies are amazing and too many to list individually, but I read every post and I thank you for you thoughts and prayers.

Theresa, Thank you for putting out the update on my behalf.

I also battle a severe depression when ever my disease goes to the bad side. So I needed to stay away from everything disease related for a while. I think it was my way of self protecting.

Here is the latest update on my disease:

My platelets could not keep up with Carbo which was very disappointing because Carbo was kicking some A--. And Z is correct in saying that my oncology team thinks I needed something stronger than Abemaciclib, but said we could save for another day. On a good note......I was between treatments for 2 weeks and was on Letrozole/Faslodex. My tumor marker came down 25 points on the Letrozole. I had only received the loading dose of Faslodex, and my Onco said it takes longer for Faslodex to kick in. So at least I know I am not resistant to Letrozole.

I was in the hospital getting fluids and platelets and in a lot of pain. They did a brain MRI that was clear, thank the good lord. So the next day they did MRI of spine and saw numerous bone mets.

I was released from the hospital and checked into a hotel, so I could do chemo the next day. My onco said I was welcome to stay in the hospital one more day instead of getting a hotel!!! Seriously, doesn't she know how miserable hospitals are? I would have paid any amount for a hotel just to get out of there.

The next day I woke up I was in debilitating pain, so I was sent for MRI of abdomen. I had 2 tumors that have grown together making one mass and pressing on key arteries and veins. This scared the crap out of me and I thought the end might be around the corner. My Onco gave me dilaudid in the vein that immediately relieved the pain. I went ahead and did my first round of Abraxane as well. They gave me several prescriptions to manage the pain and I was able to do that. After a week I noticed the pain subsiding so i started weaning off of it. I am no longer on the pain meds!!!!!!

My tumor markers fell 55 points after 1 round of Abraxane and liver enzymes are back in normal range after round 2 of Abraxane. I will get my Tumor Markers back today to show what round 2 did to them. I had my third treatment yesterday and when I go to get blood work next week, I can see if the TM's are still falling.

I want to share this story with you all. God does work in mysterious ways. My oncologist's mom is being treated for melanoma and was in the infusion room when I was getting my round 2. She wanted to meet me, so my Oncologist Dr. Means brought me over to see her. She hugged my neck and told me God spoke to her and said that I need some reassurance that I'm going to get through this. She said he mentioned me by name. I believe God heard all of your ladies prayers and then Mrs. Means spoke to me through God. And if that wasn't enough, the VERY next day, I was at Walmart and came out to my car and someone left this little crocheted church under my windshield. The little church had a cross that pulled out of a pocket and there was an uplifting message. This really did wonders for my emotional well being.

Thank you all so much and please know how touched I am. I am on the mend and need for Abraxane to work for a long time to get me to a better place in this horrible disease.

    Hugs to you all!

Robin, So happy to hear from you and that you're again on the mend. I am in awe of the two stories you shared.I do know God speaks to us. He saved my three year old boy from drowning by speaking directly to me. I am so happy for you.

Wow Robin - your post was very inspiring.  I am so glad you are doing so well now after enduring such difficult times.  I am not a religious person but I do believe in the power of energy and love.  Sounds silly but that's what works for me.  With that said I was very touched by the message that accompanied the crocheted church.  To me that was a concrete expression of that person's positive energy and love.  Not that it matters but did you ever find out who left the message?  Perhaps better not to know.  Sending you love and support.
