Something funny!!! I thought I would try the new Maybelline "tattoo" eyebrow gel. It was supposed to last 2 days. I also thought it was the new "peel" off kind like in the UK. Well, it was not and I ended up looking like Groucho Marx. I had to use Noxema to get it off. I don't use Maybelline, but thought I would give it a try. I like Mirabella, MAC, Urban Decay, Marc Jacobs, Nars, Laura Geller, Bare Minerals, Bobbie Brown, T'Leclerc and misc other makeup products. Today, I went to the professional cosmetic's place and picked up a couple of products. One of my favorite eyebrow products is by Senna. I met Eugenia Weston, the founder, at Marshall Field's on Michigan Avenue Chicago. She was in town working on makeup for Bette Midler. She does beautiful brow work. So many other lines have copied Senna's "Form a Brow" and their kits are much less expensive. One of my eyebrows looks a little sparse to me, as I have blonde brows. I need a tint from my niece, but have been researching Henna tints that can deposit color on the skin as well as the eyebrow hair. So, I am digging deep for the perfect brow~~~~

Thanks everyone for the tips! I am going to do some shopping. You’ve inspired me!

Shortly after starting on AIs I mentioned to my MO that I was noticing skin and hair issues. She asked me if I wanted retinA and Latisse and also referred me to a dermo about my hair loss. I use the Latisse regularly and it may be helping me keep the lashes I have but no real growth. The retinol sits in my drawer and the dermo didn’t offer a solution to my hair. I did have 13 little moles or freckles removed, however. Sheesh! Now I have 13 little scars in their place. 2 were considered to be pre cancerous so I guess it was worth it.

When I went through chemo I used to put coconut oil all over my body (and head) after a shower. I really liked what it did for my skin. Winters are pretty dry in Minnesota and it’s a natural way to bring some moisture.

Wabals, so you use the Roc morning under your makeup and then Olay at night? I heard that Roc is good but have not heard about the Olay. Thanks for the info!

    Hi everyone,

Has anyone heard of or used sea buckhorn oil. It’s meant to be really good for skin hydration.

    Would appreciate any feedback :)

For eyebrows if you can find a high quality eyeshadow ( I like bare minerals) that is very close to your eyebrow color then you can feather it in nicely and it is a good solution. It takes some practace though. I have crazy dry skin though and so I am getting a parrafan spa for my feet, hands and elbows. I guess I should read and see if that is safe.

I am not sure what to apply to the outside I have been in whole foods and noticed the skin care line. Internally I eat fish, olive oil , avacodos and I take krill oil.

Indigo, I have heard of Sea Buckthorn Oil. It is in my Amika hair products and I really like it. My friend has the oil/serum for night time use, and she really likes it.

There is a list of top 10 retinol products recommended by derm docs. The list includes both Roc and Neutrogena. I just saw Watts Beauty has a 2.5% Retinol cream on Amazon for about $20.

Exercise_gu, I have used eye shadow for brow powder. Recently, I picked up some Ardell brow powder and fiber paste. If I work with a tiny brush head, I can get the same type of strokes that are used in microblading, for a very natural brow look.

Thank you everyone for your contributions. A thread like this can help all of us, and, I am sure, that we are trying a variety of products to retain our looks.

mI behind in the times with the skincare regime and I really should. Between the tamoxifen and taking allergy medicine my skin started to dry and flake. I usually use ROC also. I still break out so I sometimes wash with a sulfur cleanser otherwise I was with Naturals. What I did get into was investigating high end products and seeing if there were fairly comparable drugstore versions for when you just can't afford some of the pricier items at the time. Find a lot in regards to makeup. I have not looked into skincare. I use Nivea in the blue tin. Glob it on under my eyes where I have been the driest and then rub it in elsewhere on my face. I can honestly say it has made a difference in softening the lines and adding moisture.

I'm going to have to spend some time looking up everyones product that they use. Great thread Michelle.

    What are peptides??

Definition from google: Peptides are chains of amino acids that are the building blocks of proteins in the skin. ... When they are in a short chain of amino acids, they are able to penetrate the top layer of our skin and send signals to our cells to let them know how to function. One important protein in our skin is collagen.

    ***************************************************************************************************************************************************************

    one product that I use:

Revitalize and brighten skin with Bioelements Power Peptide.

Bioelements Power Peptide is an age-fighting facial toner that refreshes the complexion. This toner revitalizes skin with renewing peptides. Its anti-aging formula brightens and refines uneven skin tone. Plus, this hydrating toner works to saturate skin with moisture, helping the complexion better absorb anti-aging ingredients. With continued use, this facial toner will help hydrate, nourish and revitalize skin for a younger-looking appearance.

    • Acetyl hexapeptide-8 helps smooth fine lines and wrinkles
    • Ergothioneine increases skin vitality and promotes radiance
    • Licorice root extract brightens skin tone
    • White tea leaf extract offers skin calming properties

Nourish and revitalize the complexion with Bioelements Power Peptide.

I also use peptides by Serious Skincare. I generally layer different products on my skin depending on what needs work, i.e. wrinkles, blotchy skin, etc. I exfoliated with a thermal (heat activate) Vitamin C Scrub by Serious Skincare, used Power Peptide, followed with some Ultramare from Serious Skincare, and the Sleepwear from Bioelements that has a retinol product in it.

Thanks, Beach2Beach, I think we need all the help that we can get. Wouldn't it be great to have better skin than what we had before breast cancer?

Hi! This is a very informative thread. Thanks for starting it, Michelle!

Other than sunscreen, lipstick and eyebrow pencil, I don't use makeup or skincare products. Does anyone know if certain ingredients or products are contraindicated for breast cancer patients or survivors? I'd love to try a retinoid or retinol product.

I have frownies! I'm not religious enough about wearing them to notice a difference. Before cancer I was doing botox and loved the results. But can't bring myself to do anything elective at the Dr these days.

I have not tried Perricone. They are a bit expensive and I think there are some that are less expensive that are just as good, if not better.

Michelle...I completely agree! Perricone products are ridiculously over priced. There are much better less expensive products out there that work.

I have even gone to Whole Foods and experimented with their vitamin C products. Since I have the Serious Skincare vitamin C products, I really did not need any more. I am plotting and planning a 7 day trip to Chicago next week, and will be scouring different stores for bargains on their product lines. My niece, the esthetician, is taking an intensive training course and I am super excited to be able to go to my "old stomping grounds" and root about. I am treating it as a "spa" week and will be bringing pampering products, nail polish, hair deep conditioner, etc. to do while in the hotel room at night.

Michelle...wow that sounds great. Just remember that Vit C is very unstable and should be in a dark bottle. It will be completely ineffective if its in a jar. Have a great time!

Michelle, I looked at HSN website for SSC vitamin C products. There are a lot of them or I’m overthinking it. Which products do you use?

Dtad, you would love this. I remembered what you said about buying vitamin C in a dark bottle. My friend was at Marshall’s with me and raved about her vitamin C serumfind. It was not in a dark bottle. She put it back after I told her what I’d learned. Lol

Serious Skincare Thermal Vitamin C Exfoliant, Vitamin C Serum, Vitamin C Sunscreen. Wait until they have a special on a group of Vitamin C products and you can get 5 or 6 very good sized products for about $60.00. I like to use product lines to see if there is a result and sometimes I like to mix and match.

I believe SSC is profiled to be in the lineup this week for specials. Thank you for clarifying what you actually recommend. I saw Perricone “on sale” and almost bit the bullet, but it was way pricey. If it’s worth it, ok but must find out the facts. Thank you for starting a great thread. Xox

Ghionik, it was definitely my pleasure to start this thread, because we are all looking for ways to keep our looks intact. I love the science behind the products and, actually, next week, I am going for 7 days to Chicago with my esthetician niece for her advanced training. She has been practicing for 12 years and is amazing. She is so busy, that I don't get to have services, ergo my search for the fountain of youth on my own.

Hi again. Happy to pass along any skincare tips. We are all in the same boat! My concern about Serious Skin Care products is that there are sooo many products in the line. You do not have to buy so many products. There are very good ones that have all the big gun ingredients in one or two products....

Here is a little bit of information, about the Serious Skincare product called Ultramare. I use it with the vitamin C serum. Both come in glass bottles, the vitamin C has a label covering almost the entirety of the bottle. Many of the products can be found in combined kits that go on an HSN today's special value, every now and then. I have expression lines, between my eyes "11's" that are not too deep. I have no crow's feet or forehead wrinkles. I am in my 50's. My main concern is complexion, which is invigorated by the Vitamin C.
