edited February 2018 in Not Diagnosed But Worried

hello I’m 18 years old, and I have a large lump in each breast, I’m a 32A so small breasted, my whole breast feels lumpy, but when I squeeze my breast, I feel a big lump that I can move around. My nipples have been sore over the past couple of days. Aswell as my left breast being slightly larger than my right. I have been to the doctors twice and had different doctor both times. Both doctors said it feels normal but I can’t stop worrying could these lumps be normal? I’m so scared of breast cancer even though it doesn’t run in my family.

Thank you. Any advice is appreciated

Your odds of having breast cancer at eighteen are essentially zero. Have your doctors discussed with you what is normal/hormonal at your age? If not, you should make an appointment to discuss it and how to recognize what is "normal" for you. Lumps & bumps in teens and young women are very common. Perhaps they could schedule an ultrasound for you and discuss the results with you

no he didn’t tell me what was normal. He just told me that it felt normal and could be normal breast tissue that I can feel because I am skinny with small breasts. I am going to try and get an appointment tomorrow. As I’m in UK and I know that a ultrasound would take a while to process

i stand my MelissaDallas. Breast cancer at y our age is virtually unheard of. Breasts can have all kinds of benign lumps and bumps, though, and you are wise to have them checked. I think its safe to say you're in the clear.

megane, if you find yourself continuing to be "so scared of breast cancer even though it doesn't run in my family" after being seen by 2 different doctors, what you may have is health anxiety, which can be debilitating. Please do ask you doctor about this.

I have spoken to my doctor about my anxiety, and I suffer from OCD and since I was diagnosed with costochondritis I have constantly been touching myself finding lumps all over my body. This started in December. Unfortunately going to a doctors to discuss anxiety and just being laughed and and being told to stay off google. I wouldn’t really say that’s helping a patient is it now? I have asked for medication for my anxiety Andy I have been told no. And 8 weeks down the line I’m still waiting to get a letter off a psychiatrist. I understands breast cancer a test my age is rare. But it’s not impossible

Technically not impossible, but I defy you to find 10 legitimately documented cases of breast cancer in an 18 year old.

hello. Sorry if I sounded rude on my previous reply. I’m not any good when it comes to worrying. Last night when laying in bed I brushed my hand across my left breast. I’ve found what feels like a bunch of small uncooked rice grains. Which are painful to touch. Does anybody know what this could be

You're not being rude, but you seem to be clinging to a potential diagnosis that you are VERY unlikely to have. Breast, especially young breasts, have lots of wonky bumps. Even in women 3 times your age the vast majority of lumps are NOT cancer. Two different doctors have told you this is NOT cancer. If you just cant get past this, i suggest you talk to a therapist about your fear. Its not healthy.

I understand. I am waiting for a referral to come through. But this month has been weird because due the time I get my period- which my period is due in 4 days. I don’t usually suffer with breast pain. The lumps I couldn’t tell you. Because I only recently found out about them. But this month my left breast has been hurting and I’ve had had extremly sore nippl

PMS symptoms can change over time. You’re also probably more hyper focused on your breasts right now, so any twinge will be noticed.
