Great Bra for after biopsy!
Ladies,
I found a great bra to wear after your biopsy or procedure, and it came from....Walmart!!! I know, Walmart!
It is from Playtex, and it is called Zipster. It zips in the front like a sports bra. It fits great, zips well and stays zipped, even with my D cup size. I got a 2XL and a XL, and both are great. I got the nude color. They have it in black, but those didn't fit in the back as well. Kind of a racer-back -type thing going on in the back, but even those straps are great and lay down well.:)
I think it cost between $17 and $19. The zipper looked a little cheap when it was hanging on the rack, but after numerous zips I give it a gold star!
I'm not a petite and tiny thing, and I have that lovely flab that hangs out over a typical sports bra. Well, this doesn't really do that! It comes up just a bit higher, but not so high it bothers armpits - that would have been a deal breaker for me. I have worn it everyday since the core biopsy, and also slept in it 2 days, and it is still a great fit!
I wore it to my biopsy appointment, and I'm still wearing it. I'll wear it when I get my lumpectomy, too.
Just wanted to share with you lovely Ladies. I spent a lot of time pre-biopsy bra shopping, and I'm glad I took a chance on this one.
Hugs to all,
Wrinklequeen

I'm late to this post but that's the exact bra I got and I concur......perfect!! And comfortable. -
Joined the forum just to say thanks A LOT for this suggestion, as my breast center didn't mention what to wear after and I would not have thought of this. I wasn't able to find the Walmart one (seemed to be discontinued?), but I found a similar Champion one at Target (the Power Shape maximum support - “Stop the Bounce"...) that was fabulous for swapping ice packs in and out with minimal jostling, and comfortable enough to sleep in (which the breast center recommended to me for at least the first night). I iced for nine hours straight after my core biopsy, and did not experience major swelling, so my normal bra size worked fine. The bra can be unzipped a bit to accommodate some swelling without sacrificing much support, which is handy. It has also kept things from bouncing around too much during the day, even while walking the dog and stuff, which has been great.
As a bonus (and this may sound weird), it's pretty and blue and flattering and it feels like I bought myself flowers (really just did something kind for myself) while I'm waiting for my news. So I'll be able to use it as a sports bra happilyafterwards, once all this is in the rear view mirror...
Sending strength to all of you ladies

I have the same bra from Target and LOVE it! It was so easy to put on after my biopsy, and was great for the ice packs. I’ll be wearing it again after my excisional biopsy this week

I'm so happy to have found this post since I'm preparing for some procedures. I have a question though... I normally wear a 34DD or DDD and... my boobs hang straight to the floor. I tried one front zip bra and could have been on world's funniest videos if anyone had video taped me. There was no way I could place my boob and zip at the same time. What do you think? Would this work for me? I'll have to order on Amazon - I live in the mountains and am too far from Target or Walmart to try one on. Thanks for your help!

I have worn the same brand of regular bra for years, Victorias Secret Body full coverage bra. I know that different bras fit differently but I also have boobs that hang and wear a 34DDD in the VS brand. It was hard to find a sports bra that didn't cut in tight underneath the breast.
I also ended up with the Champion 9 Power Shape Max sports bra from Target in size 38DD ($25, got it on sale for $15) that fits very well and is comfortable.
It has a shape and bit of padding to the breast that allowed my boobs to fit inside rather than being completely smooched flat against me. Yet it held firm as a sports bra does. It also has one hook in the front center that helps keep it together while you zip up. Then it also has a fabric flap that covers the bottom of the zipper so it doesn't poke into you. I could not find this exact one on Amazon. Very easy to slip in the ice packs and comfortable to sleep in, too.
I tried to use some Fruit of the Loom Front Close (hooks) racerback bras but couldn't get a size that felt comfortable to me. I returned one pair and reordered it in size 38. It is more stretch material. ($12.50 for 2) It would work great for a smaller size boob though.
Actually my VS Body (with underwire) is very comfortable as long as the biopsy or incision line is not underneath the breast. Of course, not so comfortable to sleep in. My stereotactic biopsy was in the 7 0'clock position and the incisional biopsy was along the areola from about the 6'oclock position up to the 12 O'clock just for a reference.

Thanks so much Silbar! This is very helpful! I feel much better.
Two questions - you said you have a 38DD in this bra but I see it does come in a 34DD so I'm wondering if you can help me decide what size I might order? Did you try the 34DD or 36DD? Also, the area on my breast is about high noon - 2o'clock - or maybe say 10 - 2. Do you think this bra would be comfortable for that area? Thanks again for your help! -
I tried on the 34DD and the 36DD and they were too small for me around the band area to be able to connect the zipper.....I think this bra would work for any area of the breast. I just wish bras were more consistent and easier to find the right fit and size.

Thanks again Silbar! I agree, it's too bad there's not more uniformity of sizing - in clothes too!
So grateful for your help! -
I’m normally a 36D/38C, but I went for a 38D for surgery purposes
