Edited to say - sorry if this is in the wrong place!!!

Good morning! I had a wire guided excision biopsy a couple of weeks ago and since then it's been a nightmare. The wound is infected and has partially popped open. I feel like I'm never away from the doctors!

I awoke this morning to a bed covered in gunk which is s shame because I thought things were healing but no - I rang 111 for an out of hours appointment as advised by the nurse when I saw her on Friday. The lady on the phone said 'is it oozing'.... erm, more like running like a stream!

Has anyone else dealt with this? I'm sure I'm not alone but it all feels a bit lonely.

Results of the biopsy will be revealed on Thursday. The preliminary tests they did during the operation came back as 'satisfactory' so I'm prediming that means things are OK but who knows eh. Given the surprises that have cropped up over the past few months I’m anxious and just want Thursday over with!

Best wishes

Xx

Fay

    Hi Faysylvs-

Oh goodness, that sounds dreadful! We're so sorry you're dealing with this. You may want to check out our surgical forum, for some advice on how to manage the infection and what to do in the healing stages. It's not terribly common, but it does happen! Good on you for getting in touch with your doctor's office right away, we hope you get some relief and get this under control quickly!

Please keep us posted on how it goes and what you learn when your results come back!

Yes, mine got horribly infected. As my BS said, "that stuff should not be coming out of a live human body." I was on antibiotics for 6 weeks.
