Welcome to our group, mkn86!
Moth: you know the saying, the only constant IS change. So we have to adapt to that, right?
-
Going to my first survivors support group tonight. I wierdly nervous. I'm an introvert normally but I think meeting with other women that have a similar situation may be very beneficial. I'll let you know.
-
Today I told my students “ Sharing is caring, right?” Oh yes! Was the reply. “I care a whole lot. Allow me to breathe on you and share this crud that one of you so kindly shared with me.” Oh no! Was their answer. But sharing is caring... right? lol

I am fighting cancer. Isn’t that enough? Daggum cold.

Interested to hear how it went -- and where you went. You can PM me if you'd like. I'm in Charlotte, too.
-
thank you for the warm welcome
i appreciate it!
going in for an appointment with BS and PS tomorrow. let's see what they say about my case.
smwusaf, i am introverted too. This forum is probably the biggest support group i’ve joined. but lately i have been reaching out to other survivors individually. because some things we just need to hear from survivors themselves.
let us know how it goes (if you’re comfortable to talk about it
have a good week everyone!

I really enjoyed the evening. They had a guest speaker, a cardiologist, who spoke on the topic of heart health and chemo and radiation, etc. It was very interesting. It was nice to be in a group of ladies do diverse yet with a common theme. There were long term survivors and some still in treatment so it was good to hear stories and get information. They have several outreach type programs for survivors like yoga, art, meditation, etc. It's a bit of a drive for me but I think I will try and go back on occasion. happy valentines day!

appointments with surgeons went okay. a bit overwhelmed and scared of surgery. they explained everything. but also the breast surgeon is out of the country until march 7th. i must have surgery by March 5th at the latest so i’m back to the drawinf board this coming week with looking for a surgeon.
had (still having actually) my first cup of coffee since september.
i felt i needed a little something to make me happy.
It's malaysian coffee where they roast the coffee beans in butter or something. and it's hazelnut flavored. it's instant but all good i assume.
When the weather is hot, i make iced coffee out of it and put it in my favorite mug.
I hope you ladies are having a great weekend

home today after surgery.. let the healing begin!
Unless something else pops up, I have now completed all treatments. Well, I will still be on aromatase inhibitor pill for many years.
Hoping you guys are all having a great weekend.
-
Dodgersgirl - glad to hear your well and on the back end of treatments!
-
DodgersGirl I'm sorry to have been out of touch. Was this a cosmetic surgery or something else? Either way, I'm glad you are done and feeling good. Like you, I'm on hormone therapy only now (Tamoxifen) and feeling better every day. Wishing you the very best, speediest recovery!

Georgia1– had to have full hysterectomy after a PET scan showed uptake in the uterus couldn’t have a hysterectomy at the time because I was in active chemo treatment so I had a D&C between AC chemo. The pathology showed no cancer, instead it was dx’d as complex atypical hyperplasia. The next step after that is cancer. I next PET in Sept did not show any activity or uptake. Once done with mastectomy, chemo, and rads, was time to schedule hysterectomy. Surgeon everything looked good and that she would have my pathology report by the time of my follow up appointment.....hoping they dont find camc
-
Oh goodness that is a lot to deal with! I'm glad your last PET scan was clear and I will be thinking of you. You certainly deserve to be done and healing.
-
Georgia1– thanks
-
Heal up Dodgersgirl! Nice that it's all behind you and you can just focus on getting back to "normal" instead of psyching yourself up for the next "hard" treatment.

I posted this somewhere else but need to post here too, feel more comfortable posting here. I had a follow up with my B.S. today. I asked about this rib pain I have. He said that is wasn't mets based on how it presented itself...tender. Perfect.. but then asks when my next appointment is with my MO, March 14th. He said I need to call and get it moved up. I will call tomorrow but I just want to put all this behind me. He made me feel better that it is nothing considering it is my radiated side.
-
Ugh, Annbee. I hate that you are getting an extra dose of stress. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you and hope your MO has equally reassuring words.
FWIW, I found this on a couple of websites: If you start experiencing pain in your ribs and/or around your breastbone, don't panic; it's probably not cancer. Radiation can cause arthritis-like inflammation, particularly around the area where your ribs connect to your sternum. Do ask your doctor about the pain, but chances are good that you'll be advised to take aspirin, which will likely take care of it.
-
Thank you! I feel like this will all be nothing but I know I have to follow through which is stress . Ugh
-
Dodgersgirl, congrats on finishing treatment; I sure hope your healing journey goes well and without complications. Annbee, sorry about the stress you are experiencing; it is amazing how it pulls us down more than we think; keeping everything crossed that the days and weeks ahead will appear brighter.
