Intraductual papilloma?????

Hi I’m not understanding any of my report that I received yesturday. My dr told me all benign. Ok that’s great. Today I got a call from the breast center that I need to make an appointment with a breast surgeon regarding Intraductual Papilloma. That was one of the findings in my report. But that seems to be the reason for seeing a surgeon. What risk does that have? Again internet gives mixed info. Anyone know anything about this and the concern

    Good morning. That is a benign finding so I'm not sure why surgery would be considered. Is it large to the point of being painful? Or did the report mention ALH? Here is something to read that may be helpful:

    Papillomas are usually removed because there is a very small chance they could be harboring a few atypical cells. But yes, they are benign and do not increase your risk of developing cancer. My radiologist was quite sure I had one and suggested a biopsy. I dithered on whether to bother with a biopsy at all, since they are usually benign.... to make a long story short, I went ahead with the biopsy, and it turned out to be PASH, not a papilloma at all. If you don't want it excised, you can discuss it with your Dr.
