I have only just discovered this option. Sounds good to me esp. as scar hidden under cheek of one's bottom and also behind oneself, so one doesn't see it every time one looks in the mirror face on.

Has anyone any experience they can offer me of this op? Is it good/bad/or what?

Many thanks,

Here’s a link to a talk done by Dr Frank Dellacroce from NOLA on different types of natural tissue recon. He is one of the top docs in the world for natural tissue recon with aesthetic results that are superior to most. It’s a very informative talk to watch in its entirety but you can skip to the 12 minute, 45 second mark to hear his take on PAP flaps and why. It’s also interesting to see what his work looks like scar-wise in the other case studies in the talk or on NOLA’s website.

    Dear Lula

Thank yhou so much for this. Reeeeeeeeeally interesting, esp the bit about not doing leg surgery due to wt bearing. Fascinating.

Thank you again. So good to have the link and a name to quote to whomever I meet.

Lady Bird, the Pap flap has severely compromised (that's putting it lightly) my life in every way. It's not worth it at all imo. Pls review my posts. I had a horrible experience. And I will need to live with this and like this for the rest of my life. If you have any questions, pls let me know. I'm happy to help you with what I experienced. Regatta.

hello - am currently looking into best type of reconstruction. I will need to have radiotherapy after surgery and am told there can be problems with a silicone implant. I had thought a PAP flap would be a possible alternative, but take the point about weight bearing body parts not being ideal donor sites. Am quite thin so stomach not an option. Was also concerned to hear of regatta21’s problems. I’d like to keep muscle strength of my legs. Has anyone had problems with that? This is all very new to me so sorry if I’ve used wrong terminology. Live in the UK. Thanks for any advice.

Stripes12, When I met with my surgeon regarding free flap surgery (with no muscle removed), he assured me that none of his patients have had permanent functional issues. From what I've gathered, there can be some numbness at the donor incision sites. I haven't had my surgery yet, though.

stripes-what about SGAP or a stacked flap using DIEP + SGAP to get the needed tissue?
