I lost every finger and toe nail during chemo. No problems in the past 5 years. Suggest you see a dermatologist.

Yes, I didn’t have any problem until almost 2 years post Taxotere. Tried numerous things...podiatrist...everything.

Just this month I decided what the heck..surely they couldn’t shred any worse and went and had the powder dip manicure done. I really missed the 6 months my nails looked terrible. I don’t know what will happen now. Hope yours get better.

I had to have both of my big toenails lasered...they got terribly ingrown

I’ll definitely see a dermatologist. I was just flabbergasted when I noticed it today. I appreciate your responses, and wish you all well

My toenails lifted and a few of my fingernails were affected by chemo 2.5 years ago. They've gotten better but never quite recovered and cyclically lift. My dermatologist says, "Yup, you had chemo. Nails don't heal well--ask any runner."

I'm 1.5 years post-TC (and 5.5 years post-AC/T) and my fingernails started lifting a few months ago. I haven't seen a dermatologist yet, but keep meaning to. I notice it's worse when my hands are dry (i quilt, and also shuffle papers at work a lot) so I'm trying to keep them well hydrated. Nail polish seems to help protect them, too; I'm using OPI Nail Envy and it's working wonders. I forgot it a week or so ago and half my pinkie nails are lifted right now. 😕 I also have to keep them short, and no more gel nails, that always seems to cause problems (I almost lost three nails after my son’s wedding).

Nancy, I appreciate your response. It’s nice to know that polish helps rather than not. 😊 Last year as my nails were “normalizing” I found a great professional nail tech. She told me about Dr’s Remedy nail polish. I found it on Amazon and am again using the moisture treatment. It’s a bit pricey but there are some pretty colors of polish and the ingredients are pretty much natural. Tea tree oil, etc...

Anyway, it is what it is. 😌 And I appreciate knowing from you all that this can be a cyclical occurrence.
