First timer here...I am have a radioacive seed implanted this Wednesday and an excisional biopsy done on the 22nd. I was given a diagnosis of atypical ductal hyperplasia after my stereo-biopsy. The pathology report says atypical ductual hyperplasia found in deeper levels and I am not sure what that means or it's relevance. Also, states microcysts and mucocele like lessons founds. Any insight on these statements would be greatly appreciated and do either of these make it more likely that dx will be upgraded to bc?

When trying to interpret your path report, bear in mind these reports are communications between physicians, they are not written in a manner intended for patients. They assume knowledge previously acquired in the course of medical practice for which Google is not a substitute. The ACR mandated mammogram "patient letter" was an attempt to deliver the salient facts of your breast imaging without sending people to the internet searching terms, but I have found most patients find their content inadequate these days.

"Deeper levels" refers to the evaluation of the processed biopsy material submitted, specifically the position within a tissue block and not a position within the breast.

    Microcysts (apocrine microcysts) are benign,

Mucocele-like lesion "(MLL) is a rare mucinous lesion of the breast with highly variable upgrade rates to atypia or malignancy on excision" (reference: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23161710)

Assuming you had calcifications targeted on your stereo biopsy and not a suspicious mass, the likelihood of an upgrade to DCIS is more likely than an upgrade straight to IDC. (reference: http://pubs.rsna.org/doi/full/10.1148/radiol.09091...)

Either way, the die is cast and you will have your answer soon after your surgery.
