    Hi,

Long story short: Last week I had my head shaved at a barber, because my hair was falling out so much. I've had five taxol treatments. My head is now covered with what look like razor burn red, angry bumps. Some of them look like white pimples. My entire head is very tender and sensitive to touch. I'm refraining from itching. I want some way to relieve the inflammation and get rid of the red bumps. So far I've tried T-gel, Head & shoulders shampoo, Johnson's baby wash, Baking soda, aloe vera, face lotion, Jergen's body lotion, aquafor, cortisone cream.

Nothing has helped long term. The cortisone cream has been the only thing to temporarily take the pain away.

Do you have any tried and true ideas for me, it is so itchy and driving me crazy!

    Thank you.

Sorry you are going through this - skin can be so extra sensitive on chemo, which probably doesn't help the razor irritation. Are you able to see a dermatologist? That way they can rule out any possibility of infection, and hopefully give you something for the symptoms.

Go to your oncologist, it is called folliculitis and probably needs an antibiotic.

Definitely call your oncologist. Plus, Taxol causes alot of rashes, too. I had rashes everywhere and my MO was a huge help.

I agree ..... call MO forfolliculitis. In the meantime use only mild things on it; others may worsen irritation

Thanks everyone. I received a prescription for clindamycin & was told to wash with Burts bees wash/shampoo.  Worked great, almost all cleared up!

    Thank you!

Ladies who may read this in the future: Get a very short cut, not a close shave!
