Seroma/flying/sleeve

I just don't understand why my surgeon says I don't need to wear a sleeve for flying especially for a long trip -5 hours. I'm hoping to have the seroma issue resolved before flying but even still I don't want to have my arm/hand swell up.

I've spoken with 20 year survivors of breast cancer whom have worn sleeves at least for flying, and they didn't have lymphadema or seromas and never developed it.

I have good insurance coverage so maybe it would be paid for but I need a physician's order. Does anyone know what type of places do sleeve fittings and sell them?

You can buy direct or use a store lookup. I got mine via a local store, but you can buy online without a Rx (of course, that means you will pay out of pocket, too).

Try a different doctor. My reconstruction surgeon was hesitant to prescribe it (but did say to check with my onco or surgeon). They gave me the Rx no questions asked.

    Wishing you a peaceful flight,

    Holly

    Hi HollyDollyD,

Thanks for the idea of asking another doctor. When I get a MO I'll ask otherwise my primary care might write an order.

Please try another doc. My surgeon said I didn't need it... My PT said I did (she was right!) So I asked my primary and it was approved instantly. No questions asked..

Thanks, I will try another doctor because I don't want to have a problem with my arm while on vacation or anytime really.
