Biopsy for Pagets

I am new to this forum. My story starts last October when I noticed that my right breast was quite a bit larger than usual with a deformity in the upper right quadrant. I saw my dr, and he orders diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. Results were negative.

Fast forward a month or so and my right nipple and areola became extremely itchy, inflamed and I could hardly wear a bra. A fe days later everything seemed to get better. A couple of weeks later the same thing happened. And it repeated and expanded.

Last Monday I visited the dr again and he immediately said I needed a biopsy as he suspected pagets. The biopsy was taken within an hour and now I am waiting.

He said the good news is that if it is pagets we caught it early and that it will be very treatable. Is it possible he could tell by looking at it it is Pagets?

I don't expect results back until the middle of next week because I live in a very rural area and all pathology is sent out.

Should I be worried?

Thanks and sorry for the long post.

    Dear Miminator,

Welcome to the community. We are sorry that these present changes in your breast have brought you here but glad that you reached out. There is information on our main site about Paget's Disease which is there for you to read if your biopsy concludes that such is your diagnosis. We can also direct you to topics and forums that may be of interest again should your biopsy conclude such. For now you might want to wait for a definitive diagnosis. Keep us posted. The Mods

hi mimator welcome here to this great website, I don't know if the dr would know you had Pagets I would think he's ruling it out because of the symptoms my dr thought I had eczema but it was Pagets I had a mammogram ultra sound and a biopsy it took ages to confirm Pagets and I'd 3cms of dcis, waiting was the worst that was 16 months ago and today I saw my newly reconstructed nipple im delighted with the results, I wish someone had told me at the start that I would b ok and look ok I was devastated but you know what it really turned out OK, hopefully you won't have Pagets but if you do you too will be just fine
