I was diagnosed with IDC in June 2015, had right breast lumpectomy in July 2015 following by radiation and Tamoxifen. I developed some right arm cording in 2016 which resolved with a few PT sessions and stretching. Recently, I have developed new cording present under my right breast which extends down my right rib cage to my upper abdomen. It is easily felt and seen when I stretch my right arm up and is very tender to touch. I find it unusual to be experiencing new cording 2.5 years post surgery. I have my follow up visit with MD Anderson in Feb. 2018. Has anyone else experienced new cording this far out from surgery? Of course, always concerned if this is related to any badness. Your thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I am exactly 2 years out from a lumpectomy, sentinel node dissection, chemo, and radiation. I've been on Tamoxifen for the past 17 months. All ROM has been restored and I am active with dragon boating, cross country skiing, yoga, and mostly normal function of my arm. 2 weeks ago I woke up with the pain in my lower ribs on my surgical side. It feels like my skin is ripping when I put my arm up and bend to the opposite side. Ouch! I went to my normal physio and to my family doc. Chest x-ray was done today but when I was in the change room for the x-ray, the lighting really showed off what looks like cording from my ribs all the way up the lateral side of my chest into my armpit. I really think it is cording. I am going to book in to my lymphadema physio therapist next week and get her to look at it. So weird how it just came out of nowhere. Let me know if you have had any success with treating it.

    Dear Thrivivor and tcbarnes,

Welcome to you both. It looks like this thread has not received much attention. We are sorry for what brought you here but glad that you reached out. Check out this thread on Diagnosed 2017. There seems to be discussion of cording there. You can also use the search function on the blue tool bar to find others. Here is information on cording on our main site.Keep us posted on how things evolve for you. the Mods
