Burning left palm
Hi All,
Before I go calling my doctor and they think I am nuts or worse come up with an "I don't know" response, I thought I would possibly post here. I have been having burning in my left palm for about 4 days. It actually feels like it is on fire and I have held ice packs in my palm for relief. Any chance this could be something to do with my surgery or nerve issues? I had surgery in August, with mastectomy and DIEP flap reconstruction. I had just one lymph node removed. That was all on the left side.
Just wondering if anyone has had this. I did a search and couldn't find any posts for just this.
I am not on any medication and did not need radiation or chemo.
Thanks - if this belongs somewhere better, I wouldn't mind a bump.

I did not have this issue but I did have radiating pain down my arms. My physical therapist did something called a nerve cleanse and it helped immensely. I hope you get some relief soon.

Sounds like the nerves are irritated. I didn't have pain, but I had the most god-awful itching that could NOT be relieved by scratching or rubbing the skin. It was just nerve endings trying to regenerate, but it drove me crazy for a few weeks. Definitely get it checked out though. Perhaps they can try you on a course of gabapentin, which is often used for nerve pain conditions.

When my hand felt like it was on fire it was from carpel tunnel. For me it was my whole hand and most of the fingers. Ice on my wrist helped a lot. I also wore a brace at night. Did you do anything that might have aggravated something
-
Oh yes yes. I had carpal tunnel after starting a AI. A wrist brace at night helped a lot. I still wear one.

Farmerlucy - would you be able to explain what a nerve cleanse is?
Luckynumber47 and Farmerlucy - what struck me as odd was that I am right handed and do most of my typing etc. with my right hand. As far as my left, I did read carpel tunnel can do this. I don't have any other symptoms of carpel tunnel but I am trying to stay aware of the position and what I do with my left hand to avoid any odd positions or repetitions. I just wondered about all the surgery because I had been in physical therapy for a frozen shoulder and now am going to the gym. This burning just started this week and I was sure there wasn't anything different I was doing when it started but I will keep better track of it.
Definitely if it continues I will contact the doctor. I appreciate the information you have all shared.
Thanks.

I’m not exactly sure but she took her fingers and pushed on my forearms and kind of pressed and stroked in one direction, I think. It was almost six years ago now. Wow, time flies.

I'm a big believer in pt, especially if you get a really good one. It sounds like it'd be a good idea to see your dr and get a referral.
What got me in your post was saying your hand felt like it was on fire. That's exactly what mine felt like - on fire. That attack only lasted a couple days though so maybe if yours is still going on after a week it could be something else. Nerves are funny, they can pretty much do whatever they want. Usually parts of my hand itch and I know that's the nerves (or I'm going to kiss a fool - no, wait, that's if my nose itches)
