Weeks between dx and surgery
I know this has been discussed before but the threads are difficult to search. I was curious as to what was the "average" lag time among women with original diagnosis of DCIS to surgery.
I had a diagnostic mammogram and same day stereotactic core biopsy on 12/28. Surgery scheduled for 2/13 so, approximately 6 weeks.
What say you?

I had an MRI that showed the mass and didn't get the biopsy for a month, then surgery a 3 weeks later. A same day biopsy, wow, that's great service.

I was diagnosed as probably DCIS Sept 2016, Stereo Biopsy Oct, First LX sked for Dec, so a break of 10 weeks or so due to my work schedule. Then second lumpectomy in Jan...but eventual MX not until June, again due to work schedule. So for DCIS, I think there was a sense that I had time to make decisions, research issues, etc.

I think for a preliminary diagnosis of pure DCIS, six weeks is not a long time. I had a mammo, u/s, biopsy all on 3/6/17, with a tentative diagnosis of DCIS. Once biopsy confirmed DCIS, I scheduled my BMX and reconstruction for 3/31/17. I think I youll be okay. Best of luck!

Diagnostic mammogram 12/10, stereotactic biopsy 12/14, lumpectomy #1 on 1/22. Sounds about the same.

I experienced nipple discharge in August and was not diagnosed until January, then scheduled for SMX February 9th.

I had my suspicious mammogram on October 9th, then call backs, etc took another week. My biopsy was scheduled for the end of October but didn’t happen until late November because Sandy had shut off power to the breast center for 3 weeks. I had surgery in mid December, so all in all it was probably more than 6 weeks between finding the micro-calcifications and the surgery. Even so, they said it wasn’t a huge rush to schedule it, so I waited until the end of the semester (I teach at a University).

I was diagnosed Dec 10th 2015. Surgery didn't happen till Feb 22nd, 2016. I waited to get second opinions on both pathology and surgery options. Once I decided in January, surgeon and Plastic surgeon needed to find dates that worked. It all worked out in the end. I had asked the surgeon at my first meeting about how much time I had to decide path of treatment. She told me a month or so would make no difference in my case. I was diagnosed with DCIS.
Wish you the best!

Routine Mammogram 12/15/17
Diagnostic Mammogram due to suspicious microcalcifications 12/22/17
Stereotactic Biopsy 1/2/18
Biopsy result DCIS 1/4/18
Surgical Consult 1/8/18
Lumpectomy Tomorrow 2/13/18 The surgeons office initially suggested a date at the end of January, but was trying to tie up a few important things so I could focus on treatment and recovery. They were OK to let me wait until now, but wouldn't have wanted it to go longer.

I had a lx right before Christmas in 2002. I had an mri in January that found other areas of concern. I had those areas biopsied as well, in Feb. and, as more DCIS was found, scheduled my mx in early March. I've been NED for 15 years
