Excisional biopsy questions
I am having an excisiinal biopsy to remove and biopsy micro calcifications on Feb 14th (happy valentine's day😉) I was not a candidate for other biopsy options due to breast implants and very little breast tissue. I will post my mammogram results as I am looking for others with similar results. I have a few questions that I am hoping to get answers for.
1. How long do I need to take off work?( I am a hair stylist if that matters.)
2. looking at my 2nd mammo report and trying to under stand if they will only take cluster out or cluster and linear section.
3. What type of scaring can I expect?
Magnification view of left breast were obtained. On the magnification views there are indistinct fine plemomephoric calcifications orinted in a linear fashion extending toward the nipple. Extensive calicifactions on cc view is 3cm. Calicifactions are suspicious for malignancy. BI-RADS 4

I think the scarring depends on where the incision has to be done and how big an area. Mine was on the outside underneath & is barely there, but with my arm raised over my head you can see a slight void where the tissues was removed.
I was told to take the day after off and then I could go back to work as long as it didn't entail lifting over five pounds until my follow up appointment.
You may be uncomfortable working with your arms raised. I wasn't very sore for more than a few days, but that too may depend on where your incision is. They'll give you one or two, but you might pick up a few more little gel ice packs to keep in the freezer and put in your bra. The ones that have a cloth-like or plush surface are nicer

Thank you so much for your reply. I will pick a few ice packs up.

I just had my biopsy Friday, and I'm going back to work tomorrow (I'm a teacher). I was sick all day yesterday, I believe from the anesthesia. I slept most of the day. Today, I feel fine. I took a shower, did some school work...no pain at all, actually. The only pain I had was during the shower. I think it's because I didn't have the support of the sports bra, so it pulled at my surgical site a bit. I also had a cluster of linear calcifications. My scar is on the outer lower to mid side of my left breast, about 2 inches. He used the Savi Scout rather than the wires for the biopsy, so I think that may have helped him find exact spot.
As far as work, with being a hair stylist, you may need an extra day or so. You work a lot with your arms raised, which may be uncomfortable. Good luck!

Thank you so much for the information. I THINK I will take a few days off just to be safe. It always helps knowing how other people are healing. Was this your first biopsy?

I had the stereotactic biopsy in December, and both the stereo and excisional biopsies are firsts for me!

I'm so sorry you are going through this.
