since I figure most everyone in this group has had some type of biopsy and needed steri strips... Does anyone have a latex allergy or had a reaction to the strip's adhesive? I had to take my strips off after 3 days because the skin beneath the strips was itching and creating open lesions. I don't feel the biopsy spot is quite healed enough to keep bacteria out, so what should I do dressing wise? And to get rid of this nuisance of a reaction? I obviously don't think putting another strip on would be beneficial to the healing process..lol. how do i relieve this rash? Any ointments or astringents? A latex free butterfly bandage, perhaps? I Don't feel it's bad enough to justify a butterfly bandage...just really looking for some adhesive-free solutions and relief. Slightly awkward but, should I post a picture? The office is closed and I didn't have this reaction last time. I was assured the strips were latex free but read that the packaging contains latex.

Call your doctor to see if it is fine to just leave it alone and not put anything on it

I agree call your doctor. In the meantime if you want to cover it, maybe a telfa (non-stick) pad with paper tape if you tolerate that. I get adhesive reactions too, but that works for me. Or depending on where the site is, maybe your bra could hold the pad in place without tape?

I also had a severe allergy to surgical glue after my surgery. It took 6 weeks for my skin to become allergic (glue wouldn't come off) then it started oozing off. They didn't have me put anything on it. It just had to run it's course, just like poison ivy. I kept it covered with telfa pads tucked in my bra, since it was weeping.

What is weird about steristrips is they didn't bother me on my abdomen, but they really lit my breast up with blisters & redness. I read somewhere that it is from skin shear from the weight of your breast pulling on the delicate taped skin. Surgical glue didn't bother me
