why is no one talking about Radionecrosis of the breast?

    Mariangel43 No I didn't have implants. they are thinking maybe a reaction to the BioZorb. No one is too sure what caused this. Maybe it was the perfect storm...radiation,surgery,bioZorb and the way my body reacts things. I had a vascular test done to see how much oxygen was in my tissue. One side was good but the other side was low, meaning it was not getting adequit O2 and it could Not support good wound healing. So I traveled an hour away to a clinic that had a hyperbaric chamber. Was analyzed and they accepted me and my insurance gave me the all clear. Went on Monday, got down to pressure, was at the pressure they wanted for about 20 minutes and then they had to get me out, I was having a panic attack. I could not catch my breath and I felt like I was being crushed. It was the longest 15 minutes EVER. They have to bring you back up to normal pressure before they can open the door. They said they could give me xanax to calm me and I told them they are very nice sorry I wasted your time but No I'm out of here. I'm not going back into that coffin. So Im going to the wound clinic 2x a week changing the bandage and they are putting a strip of material impreagnatted with silver into the hole. Its closing but slowly. I don't think I'm going to get anything else done before the end of the year.

    Hi JO-5 I'm sorry that you went through all that. My doctor and I have discussed having a mastectomy after this heals but what and see. Also if the cancer comes back, since I've already had radiation they will just take them off. I wanted to use Argon oil or coconut oil and the radiation doc said to use Aquafer . I t really only hurts when they pack or unpack the wound, and of course when they debrid it. I just take it one day at a time. I'm just glad my mom and my daughter are doing good. Just in case I didn't say anything , my mom was dx with breast cancer, neuroendocrin with lobular features, weeks after me, she had a lumpectomy and that's it. She wants nothing else. my daughter, 19, found a lump at the end of July. She had ultrasound,biopsy and mammogram and the pathology said t was a fibroadenoma. We were so happy, but also relieved to have it removed. I'm going to bed OMG its almost 2 am I have doctors appointment tomorrow Good night and sweet dreams

    The first thing my surgeon discussed with me when I was diagnosed was the fact that having an autoimmune disease the involves the skin (like Lupus) increases the chances of "tissue death" from radiation. She said that typically the person was okay during the radiation but that the tissue death happened after completing treatment. She called my rheumatologist to discuss with him, and he called me to discuss. I then saw an MO, who called his RO to discuss during our first appointment. They all agreed that they would recommend a mastectomy over a lumpectomy (this was before the second diagnosis on the other side), but that I could insist upon a lumpectomy if I wanted to take the chance. They also warned me that it would be possible to need radiation even with a mastectomy but that they would cross that bridge when they came to it. Luckily I didn't.

    my rad dr and nurses acts like my skin is a normal reaction, Justs tells me to let the air get to it, I'm a 42dd, I guess I could stand on my head! Any thoughts or suggestions?
