Exercise on Tamoxifen

Options

I have only been on Tamoxifen for 6 days, but I went on a short run yesterday and had a lot of unusual issues come up that I have to think are related to the Tamoxifen. My heart felt like it was going to pound out of my chest, I was sweating a lot, and I had to stop twice because I felt like I was going to pass out. I've never had those things happen before. Anyone here run regularly while on Tamoxifen?

The other symptom that happened last night is expected, I think. I was left wide awake and sweaty, even though it's chilly in my house at night. I think I read about night sweats (this was just a little sweaty, not full force night sweats) and sleeplessness as side effects of Tamoxifen. I hope the sleeplessness relents over time because I have Fibromyalgia and sleeplessness exacerbates my pain symptoms.

Anyway, please let me know if anyone has experience with running or other aerobic exercise while on Tamoxifen.

Thanks!

A runner I am NOT. I was a dancer for decades and retired from that about four years ago. Since diagnosis I have reintroduced more challenging cardio through home fitness programs like Shaun T's Insanity workouts, T25 and Turbo Fire. Most of the time I feel great during my daily workouts, which is a nice change from the general fatigue, but some days it is just REALLY hard and I question whether I'm having a cardiac event! I do sweat intensely during the workouts and depending on where I am in my cycle some nights are rough. Not sure if this helps, but I thought I would give you some feedback.

I appreciate the feedback! You touched on something that I was curious about....whether the medication will affect me differently depending where I am in my cycle. I started Tamoxifen the second day or a rough period and the medication gave me some relief. I even felt really good with the medication. But now I'm in a different place in my cycle and the medication feels different. I guess I need a few months of it to really pick up on a pattern.

No issues for me with exercise, I do 1 or 2 20 minutewalks 5-6 days per week. I did have some crazy night sweats when starting tamoxifen though. I’d go have a popsicle, then go back to sleep, fortunately those went away after a few weeks.
