Just got conformation
Just got conformation today that I have Breast Cancer in both Breasts. Right now that is all I know will find out more next Tuesday when I met with my surgeon. I am not a stranger to cancer as I about two and half years ago had a complete hysterectomy because I had stage one grade one endometrial cancer. I also have a younger sister who is battling Stage IV BC she was diagnosed just over two years ago and at that time it had spread to her lungs ( slays me she still smokes!). Because my sister has BC and there are other family members with other types of cancer as well as some aunts and cousins on my mother's side with BC I was given the genetics test all came back negative. My sister was positive. I have always had my mammograms on time so hoping that this like my endometrial cancer has been caught early. I am 62 years old and a widow I already know that I want a BMX and will go flat. My family will love me and support me with or with out boobs and I have always hated to wear a bra they to me are a like a medieval torture device. My sis went flat and says she has never regretted that choice. We are both very small busted you know the type in high school where teased that all we needed was a couple of band aids so not having anything will not really be that big of a deal I mean I wear a 32 aa when I do wear a bra.

Hi AMBurt. I'm sorry about your news, but you seem to have a great attitude so kudos to you. I had a malignant melanoma in my '20s, which was horrible but it absolutely did make breast cancer more manageable emotionally. I had "it" taken out with a lumpectomy, did a short course of radiation, and now take Tamoxifen in pill form every day. With a BMX you will not need radiation, but it would be good for you to know if the mass is ER+ to plan your post-surgery treatment. Wishing you the very best and please let us know how we can help.

HiAmBurt,
Sorry you find yourself here but welcome. Glad you have the support of your family and that you have been doing the most to take care of yourself. Keep up the positive attitude.
Please keep us posted.

AmBurt:
So sorry for your diagnosis but glad you found us. You do seem to have a great attitude -- and I think that helps so much in the initial period of shock/information overload/decision-making.
Ask any and all questions. Someone will chime in with advice.
{hugs}
