Waiting for surgery

I was diagnosed last week with DCIS grade 3 Er-/pr-. Because of family history I am opting for bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. I have to wait two weeks for a surgery date. Is that normal? Too long to wait? Can things change in that amount of time? Thank you

I saw the breast surgeon on Monday, Jan 22 and am scheduled for lumpectomy on February 13, so three weeks. I also was dx with DCIS grade 3. The wait is tough but the surgeon must believe we aren't urgent cases, so I take comfort in that.

    Hang in there.

Very much the norm. Agree with Kelly if your surgeon thought it needed to be done ASAP he wouldn’t have waited. Btw I had a 2 week wait too.

Just to chime in for reassurance - It took a month for me to start any treatment after being diagnosed with IDC due to all the appointments, scans, and preparations.
