Are You Aware of/Concerned about proposed BCO thread changes?
Are you aware that BCO is working on changes to the discussion threads and content pages? If you would like to see BCO's new goals for this website, please use the following link Provide feedback/advice about our site and campaigns?! and move to page 3 and scroll halfway down to the moderator posting of January 22, 2018.
Many of us are providing our input and expressing concerns about how our personal postings may be used, how BCO will target and track our use, and asking why BCO is spending over $2 million on these changes. After reading the goals, please read the comments we have made so far. The more members who comment, the more we hope BCO listens. Please share this posting on threads you frequent and invite others to join in the discussion.
Please join us by posting your comments on that thread. Provide feedback/advice about our site and campaigns?!
Thank you.

Just commented. I do hope they listen to us.

Is there a summary of the proposed changes anywhere? By reading, all I can tell is they're considering a "like" button. Is this now Facebook? I loathe that site for many reasons, including the popularity contest on posts.
I echo others when I say: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Hi FelineMum:
Per Ceanna's original post, the latest (rather broad and vague) explanation from the Moderators on Jan. 22, 2018 is on the third page of the linked thread and here's a direct link to the post:
https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/135/topics/860125?page=3#post_5132791
Please post any comments or ideas you may have in that thread for consolidation.

[EDIT (2/26/2018): The above thread has been moved and my link has been rendered inoperable. For an active link to the current location, please see Beesie's post below of Feb 11, 2018 08:24AM]

I will be sorry to see this site go through such changes; it will have an impact on whether I continue to use it

I do not like the idea of the proposed changes. I do not like the idea of being shown only what the site "thinks" I want to see. Facebook does this and I cannot see all of my friends posts because they don't think I want to see them. It annoys me to no end. I have certain topics I am interested in AND I have been able to help people who are newer with my experience. By taking away MY choice of what I see, I may miss out. If I cannot see what is going on, I would lose the desire to use this site. Please reconsider.
The ads I can understand to pay for the administration of this site BUT I would hate to see ads for drugs etc or have ads all over the forums.

It sounds more and more like everything will be divided up into separate "rooms." I hope not. There is too much overlap and we learn a lot from those who have different diagnoses than our own.

The changes will not separate anyone. Quite the opposite. We promise. We adore this community as much as you.

I was wondering why there is so little traffic in the forums (compared to the activity in previous years). :
-
I don't want to be divided. I find it so encouraging that stage 4 BC members are hanging in. I wouldn't want to be separated from any of my friends here.
-
The links to the original mod posts are now broken. Does anyone know where they have been moved?
-
The discussion thread was moved. It’s now actually in the same forum as this thread, right below on the list. Here is a link: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/93/topics/860125?page=6#idx_171
