Happy birthday, Odalys and Mary Lou!

I love that picture of us on the beach, Odalys. I could look at it every day!

Me too Anna. I think I'm going to have it framed to display it in my office. That way I can enjoy it every day. It will be a reminder of our strength, courage, and friendship.

We need a Birthday card list. I would love to get cards from all of you.

Lets email those dates to each other, or post here.

    Mine was January 12th!
    Born in 1956 ,
I'm 51! And proud of it.

Here is something cute I want to share. Enjoy!

Circus owner runs an ad for a lion tamer, and two people show up. One is a good looking older man in his mid-sixties and the other is a drop-dead gorgeous blonde in her mid-twenties.

The circus owner tells them, "I'm not going to sugar coat it. This is one ferocious lion. He ate my last tamer so you guys better be good or you're history. Here's your equipment --

chair, whip and a gun. Who wants to try out first?"

The blonde says, "I'll go first." She walks past the chair, the whip and the gun and steps right into the lion's cage. The lion starts to snarl and pant and begins to charge her. About half way there, she throws open her coat revealing her beautiful naked body. The lion stops dead in his tracks, sheepishly crawls up to her and starts licking her feet and ankles. He continues to lick and kiss her entire body for several minutes and then rests his head at her feet.

The circus owner's mouth is on the floor. He says, "I've never seen a display like that in my life."

He then turns to the older man and asks, "Can you top that?"

The older man replies, "No problem, just get that lion out of the way"

I loved the picture too! I think I will print it out for my desk. And I will think of you dear sisters every time I look up at it.

I would hate to think how my life would have been like without you all at the darkest time of my life, when others just didn't "Get IT". I agree with Deb, we must get together soon.

ML - too funny! I had a good laugh. Thanks for sharing. I like the idea of exchanging birthday cards. We certainly deserve to have a "birthday club".

BTW - I guess you can say I celebrated my second 22nd bd yesterday. LOL, I'm always the optimist.

Margerie - Any plans for the big 4 0?

Our plans are for a big bash- really to thank all our family, friends and docs for helping us this past year and a half- oh and turning 40 too! Can any of you come? Wish it was as easy to meet in person as it is to chat here.

We don't even have a date yet- probably the end of March. Want to get everything done and healed- one more surgery to go!

Flying to Seattle for the vaccine trial tomorrow! Exciting!

Oh, I finished my bc cartoons and got them scanned. Anyone that wants to see them- please pm me your email address. They are funny and heartbreaking- so viewer beware. ANd of course, there are boobs!

Yes, Margerie, good luck in Seattle; I wish I could do the trial with you!

    Kim, you are so young....

I would love to participate in sending birthday cards. Jeeps, I haven't even finished sending out Christmas cards, though. I consider myself half French (don't ask why) and in France it is understood that you have till the end of January to send your cards.

    My birthday is February 22.

    Love, Anna

Wow, Anna your bd is exactly a month to the day from mine. I'll add it to our list above.

BTW- Feb 22 has always been a memorable day because my best friend, since childhood, was born on that day. Would you believe we were born on the same year and share the same first and last name? How spooky is that?

I read somewhere that people born on the 22nd of the month are terribly independent. Hmmm.

    Capricorns, Aquarius and Pisces. Interesting.

I was lucky as a little girl because I never had to go to school on my birthday. That was back when we celebrated Washington's birthday on his actual birthday. We left the U.S. in 1964, so I don't even know when that tradition was stopped.

    Hi girls,
I just wanted to give you an update on our second opinion. Anthony and I headed down to Philadelphia yesterday to Fox Chase Cancer Center. Saw the head of oncology and her assistant. To make a long story short both were in agreement that the course of treatment I've been on is a good course of treatment. This made me feel real good. She said she has no problems with the treatment I have received. They also said that I since basically I feel good (most of the time) and I look good that is a real good thing. "You know when the disease is at this stage the goal is to keep you pain free, comfortable and stability." She was in agreement that we all wished that the chemo's I've been on worked a little longer than they have. She also recommended that if the next scans (Feb 8) show progression of disease then she would suggest Avastin. That is EXACTLY what my onc. was thinking. Avastin and Carboplastin. BUT we are going to hope and pray for GOOD SCANS so we don't have to make this decision now. So Anthony and I walked out of there at ease and more confident than ever that what my dr. is doing is the best possible treatment.

Oh Kim, I'm sure a huge weight was lifted. This is good news. Now, you don't have to worry about the care you are receiving. As always, I will continue to pray for good scans and for God's healing light to shine on you. God Bless you and your family.
    Love and (((((hugs))))),

Oh Good, Kim. I was really glad to hear about your second opinion. Those really can mean a lot, can't they?

Sorry I haven't been around for a few days. We are in the process of (secret coming up) getting ready to MOVE! Don't tell anyone I told! I actually have to go and pack us up for an overnight visit to what may be our new town.

I owe very blessed happy birthday wishes to you Odalys and ML! I also am going to wish happy birthdays to Anna, Kim and Margerie because I just know I will forget when those days come! Stupid chemo brain!

My birthday is 7/4/74. How easy is that to remember? I always loved the way my bday had such an easy rhythm to it (spoken like a true music teacher, right?).

    Gotta go. Love you all!
    Love and prayers, Deb
(Do you guys notice that we are all "up" and "down" at the same times? We are really in sync with each other and haven't even met yet!)

I am packing for our little trip to Boston on Sunday. I get to see that daughter of mine, and her hubby, too. They are still pretty sad about losing their cat just one week ago today. I am going to be a cheerer-upper, yep.

Gosh, I'm a fatty. I have only one skirt that I fit in. Maybe it's because I never wear skirts? But I guess I will have to if we have to make an appearance at two dressy outings. Maybe not too dressy since they're academics as opposed to businesspeople. Nowadays I find skirts oh so uncomfortable, and I don't know it that is because I am so used to jeans and khakis or because of the chunkiness.

It'll be a challenge putting my compression sleeve and glove on my left arm with the tennis elbow or whatever on the right one. I'll put the right side on last this time.

Odalys, would you like some of this freeze down in Fla? At least I finally get to wear some woolens.

    Love to all,

    Anna

    Hi friends,
Winter arrived today. Temps dropped to the low 50's and with the wind factor felt in the 40's...burrrrrrrr. It won't last, projected to be in the 70's tomorrow. But, another front is coming in on Sunday. I just love the cold air on my face.

    Thanks for the hug Odalys!

Just got back from Seattle last night- first vaccine done. It all went well. The worst part was the blood draw- huge amount! My port wouldn't put out LOL. The drew 110ml and wanted more. Oh well. Anyway glad to be home. Having a Spongebob Kickboxing birthday party for my son tomorrow.

Travel safe Anna, happy moving Deb, hug that baby Mary, bundle up Odalys and hoping for a beautiful scan for our beautiful Kim!

    Love,

Yep, nice hug, Odalys, thank you.

Omygosh, it appears I will not be on a purely consoling mission in Boston after all. Daughter and soninlaw just rescued TWO kitties: one three year-old Maine Coon and one three year-old longhair. Packed a few a sticky rollers in the luggage. I checked the website of the hotel the university has booked us in and it has a five-star restaurant and totally luxurious everything. Now I am adding a swimsuit to the luggage as well. Might as well use the accommodations, no?

I am so excited! Couldn't sleep. I can't wait to see my girl and the kitties. I will be doing major cat petting and maybe even have a feline on my lap for a bit. I love that. We can't have a cat because my husband is so afraid of them. We head out for the airport at 8 a.m.

    Love to all my sisters.

Aww...two kitties! Hope that makes life a little happier for your daughter, Anna! Have a fantastic time on your visit.

Got some results back from the sleep study. I have "upper respiratory distress syndrome," and I am a good candidate for having restless leg syndrome (13 movements per hour).
I asked how many times I woke up and she didn't have that on the report, and said I'd have to ask my doc. I'm trying to reschedule my March follow-up a little sooner so I can start sleeping well again! Oh, and they are also considering narcolepsy!

PS-thanks for the hugs, Odalys! Margerie, hope your port "puts out" a little more if needed!
    Love and prayers, Deb

I got this off of The Pound Thread.

    Thought you would like it.

Okay salsa chicken in a crock-pot. You take a package of thawed boneless, skinless chicken breasts, a cup of salsa and 1/2 pkg of low sodium(if you can find it) taco seasoning. Throw it in, turn it on low, cook for 5 hours. Not six or it will burn. It is great if you come home for lunch and turn it on. Or if you are at home at noon.

Friday night I was going over to my cousins for a girls night out. Walking out my front door I heard a pop on my right leg and couldn't walk. I didn't fall, but I couldn't walk. Girlfriend ran inside to get Anthony and together they got me in the house. I could stand on the leg but I couldn't push off of it to walk. I wasn't in any pain either. It was weird. But my concern was I did something to the hip (have a bone met there). Went to ER Saturday morning. Did x-ray and CAT Scan and thankfully no breaks, or anything showed up. It was diagnosed as a pulled muscle. So I am on muscle relaxers and Motrin for 10 days. Dr. said these things happen usually for no reason. So I am out of commission trying to stay off my feet as much as possible. I am staying at my moms and getting pampered there. Anthony is home today so I am home with computer access. Probably will go back tonight with the kids.
Like I don't have enough to deal with, these little side ailments I could do without.

ML, the chicken recipe sounds yummy. Thanks for the flower.
Deb, I hope you can get an earlier appt.
Anna, hope you are having a great time.
Margerie, glad you are back. They had trouble with my port the last 2 times taking blood. Then they ran something through the port (I forget exactly what they did) and it openend it up. Glad they first shot went fine. Can you remind me exactly what vaccine you are doing.
Odalys, thank you for the hug. Could always use those. Right back at ya!

Oh Kim- I am sorry to hear about your leg/hip. You are due for a nice surprise for a change! Well, I guess you have an excuse to sit under a warm blanket and watch movies or read a good book. Online shopping? Cuddling with Anthony? I am thinking of you and wishing you well.

I am tackling the playroom today- so if you don't hear from me soon- please send out a search party.

My vaccine was a her2 vaccine. They are developing many different tumor vaccines for breast and other cancers. Hopefully the studies will translate to prevention and cure!

Here's to hope and to Kim,

    Love,

    Margerie
