Neck lymph node biopsy

Was diagnosed with grade 1, IDC Feb 2016, right breast, 4 wks rads, no chemo (micro in one node). Swollen lymph node in neck was found last week by accident n showed on ultrasound as very suspicious. (Words of radiologist). The node is on left side of neck! Had needle biopsy today. My question is would it be unusual for breast cancer to move from right breast to left neck lymph node?? How accurate is ultrasound in determining cancer??

I had a similar scare in April. Found an enlarged lymph node on right side of neck (left side by)when I went to ENT for an earache. Ultrasound indicated it should be biopsied. So I had a needle biopsy which was inconclusive. Then I had to have the lymph node surgically removed to be sure. It turned out to just be a reactive lymph node. Thank goodness!

So don’t be concerned if the needle biopsy is inconclusive - it happens quite often - or so I was told. If that is the case, they may have to remove the node to be sure -or may suggest watching it for 6 months to see if there is any change. I didn’t want to go for that option - too stressful to wait all that time.

So more than likely this is probably just a reactive node. Sending good thoughts your way!

I had one too. Doctor said probably not anything because it was squishy and moving not stationary. Turned out to be fatty tissue.

Understandable to be concerned but more often that not it’s nothing.

    Good luck!

Thanks Kath and Diane, biopsy was benign! They going to biopsy thyroid next, but I'm not bothered as I don't believe breast and thyroid are connected! Appreciate you both replying, really helped during the awful waiting period!

So very happy to hear that! Great news!

I also had a thyroid biopsy before the lymph node biopsy - that was fine too. Thyroid nodules are very common. My doctor told me whatever your age is - that is the %likelihood of having a thyroid nodule - and most are nothing to be concerned about. But always best to get checked. Good luck and sending good thoughts again to you.

Anyone on Femara develop anxiety attacks after 2 years of use?? Leaflet lists as one of the rare side effects and I'm wondering if this is what is causing my attacks which developed suddenly 2 weeks ago. I'm not feeling in the least stressed so am confused

Having cancer can cause PTSD and with the new onset of symptoms and the biopsy, that may have triggered it. Edited: Never mind; I see that was a couple months ago.

I sometimes get not complete panic attacks, but sudden onset of some of those symptoms, and I have never had any problems like that before. Not sure if it is the Femera, or just something I don't suspect triggering it. For me, walking and listening to music help.
