Finally have my excisional biopy scheduled

I had my mammogram and US in December. It showed a cluster of micro calcifications. Then I had a stereotactic biopsy in that area and it showed a peripheral  intraductal papilloma in addition to the micro calcifications. I saw my BS a week later and he recommended an excisional biopsy. Because I developed a huge hematoma after the biopsy  we had to wait a few weeks for it to resolve.

Today I saw my BS again and he gave the OK to proceed with the surgery. It is scheduled for 2/8 as long as my insurance authorizes it. I hope to have my final results before Valentines Day which is also my 26th anniversary Heart. What a great gift it will be if nothing else shows up.

As every one else here can attest to, the waiting has been stressful but I am so glad that it is finally moving forward. This site and everyone here has been instrumental in getting me through this time, so thank you all so much.    I will come back and update.

    Thank you Carolyn and teacher! The BS said that because of the 7 o'clock position of my growth he can either go in from the areolar area or underneath the breast. He said that he will make the decision at the time of surgery after looking at all of the test results, etc first. He said this decision is not dependent on  where the radiologist inserts the wire.The wire is just his guide. The stereotactic bx left me with a small dimple at the insertion site and he thinks it is from the hematoma that I got. He will clean everything out when he goes in there.

    Like you ladies, I am looking forward to getting this completed but the waiting and wondering is crazy. I have been spending some time out in the garden and also sewing some doll clothes for my granddaughters.
