Most common type IDC along with DCIS which are precancerous cells

8mm tumor, very small. Can not be felt by touch.

It is Estrogen positive, Progesterone Positive and HER2 Negative.

No indication there is anything suspicious in the lymph nodes, based on physical exam and ultrasound done today

Lumpectomy has a 1% greater chance of reoccurrence

5 year survival rate is the exact same.

    Hi Kati218,

Good that the tumor is small and no evidence in the lymph nodes. You must be relieved to get a diagnosis, I was. Worrying for so long. Ugh. My tumor is small too (ILC) and both MRI and PETscan show no indication of lymph node involvement. Won't know for sure until surgery biopsy. So your're having a lumpectomy soon? I get mine this Friday.

Kati, sorry you are going through this, sucks...........The info in the linked thread may help. It's from 2015. But it is really current in the scheme of cancer care.

    Kati

Sounds as if your cancer was caught early. Continue to read, research, ask and write down questions for your health care team!!! Good luck!!! In the beginning it all seems to move very slow as if you’re in the twilight zone, but it gets better!!!

veeder14, yes I am getting a lumpectomy on the 8th. I felt really good after the surgeon yesterday but after talking and reading some things it is making me question that decision. How are youfeeling about it?

    • Kati considering that’s good news. I’m so very happy to hear it’s been caught early on.
    • Hope this news gives you a sense of relief.
    • Do get a second opinion just to make sure.
    • God Bless
