Back Pain/Numbness after Mastectomy

Hi there,

I had a double mastectomy 7 months ago and I still have pain/numbness in my armpits and all the way around my back except for right near my spine. I was expecting the numb/pain feeling in the breast area but not in my back and armpits.  Basically if I had a tube top on - that whole area would be numb and slightly painful.  Is this normal?  Has anyone regained sensation after 7 months?  I know they said to wait until 1 year until it's your "new normal".

    Yes, because the nerves that serve parts of your back were affected by the surgery. I regained sensation in my back except a small area near my shoulder on the radiated side.
