Are the treatments always daily? Just wondering.

Mine are, started Monday, 21 treatments that includes the boost. Same diagnosis as you

Hi Rav2017,
Thanks for writing. How do you feel? Ok, i hope. Are you scheduled to go daily? I live 2 hours from the hospital and would have to get temporary housing if treatments were daily.
-
I have daily also, and I have 30sessions.
-
Thanks for answering my question. I hope everything goes well for you and it go by quickly.
-
I just found out that I'll have daily sessions, Monday through Friday (one day of which will be longer than the others); total of 30. Different diagnosis though.
-
Thanks for writing in. Have you seen the equipment? Is it close to your face? I'm so claustrophobic, hate going in MRI's, CT scanners, but have to do it. Being in a small space daily sounds scary to me.
-
There are different machine, I’m not scare at all, I think it is much better CT. Machine on top of my head and it turns also.
-
Yup daily. Not claustrophobic at all. The machine I had moved around me but it wasn't close like a CT, MRI, or bone scan.
-
Here's what the machine ("linear accelerator") looks like:
You can see the positioning headrest and blocks, as well as the nice, big, non-claustrophobic room.
The machine rotates, and your table stays still:
-
Thanks ksusan,
Thanks for the photo! I'm much relieved that the machine is open and not close to the face.
-
Yes, I go daily, 2 miles from my house! I feel fine, had a bit if pink under breast on day 3, put on udderly smooth during day, and aquaphor at night, and it has gone away.....will see what next week brings
-
Glad your feeling fine and skin is just a little bit pink. I guess it's done directly to the skin, not through clothing.
-
Hi Veeder! Yes, you need to disrobe from the waist up. And sometimes radiation can be done lying face down (prone). Mine was and I pretended I was at the spa.
If you haven't already checked in there, the women on the "January RADS" thread are a very helpful posse.
-
Thanks for the info. I sure hope I don't have to be on my stomach since I have a bad back and neck. I will be talking with the Social Worker soon about short stay housing options.
