My doctor's office called this week to say no new suspicious areas found(YAY!). My MRI posted yesterday, and I'm posting the results below. I was diagnosed with ADH last month. Excisional biopsy scheduled for 2/2. BIRAD 4 for MRI. Since nothing suspicious was found on MRI, is the BIRAD rating based on the fact that ADH was found on stereo biopsy? Also, "moderate" background enhancement...is that in reference to my dense breasts?

FINDINGS: RIGHT BREAST: There is a moderate amount of diffuse background enhancement throughout the right breast. No focal suspicious enhancement is identified at this time. Multiple 1-2 cm nonenhancing cysts are seen in the right breast. No adenopathy is identified.

LEFT BREAST: There is a moderate amount of diffuse background enhancement throughout the left breast. A biopsy clip is noted in the posterior lower outer quadrant at the site of the atypical ductal hyperplasia. Postbiopsy changes are noted. No masslike enhancement is identified. There is a 1.3 cm nonenhancing cyst in the posterior central left breast.

VISCERA: The visualized portion of the liver and lungs is within normal limits.

IMPRESSION: BI-RADS 4 -Suspicious abnormality- Biopsy should be considered.

RECOMMENDATION: Surgical excision of the atypia in the left breast is recommended.
