I'm just now learning how unsafe my reconstruction is but still so confused .16 yrs ago I had a double mastectomy with reconstruction . 3 yrs ago implant wore out , that was freaky! trust me I so didn't want to get them replaced but they had to go in anyways and my husband whom I love wanted me too so of course I did I figure this is a mutual decision. Tuesday I started having serious pain and swelling in underarm down thru the breast. yesterday before my dr appt the Breast was definitely swollen and maybe lifted up , I'm not sure , hard to distinguish going for ultrasound next week😔Gosh I am tired of all this. Thoughts? So I discovered tx to the internet how many different complications have been discovered. Honestly I kind of hope there is fluid in there and they just take them out. Everything fit so much nicer when I had no breasts I am curious in your experiences will this just happen again if I let them fix it. I know that there might not even be an option at this point to reimplant but I also know that as much as. I want to NOT do it I don't know if I can feel right about discounting hushbands opinion on this I may have to though for my own peace and if I do not have them replaced they still have make look flat and not just all hanging skin right.

Hi Seadish, I'm sorry for your troubles! I'm afraid I can't be of much help on this since I'm still in the tissue expander phase, but do you mind if I ask how you knew your implant was wearing out? I've often wondered about implants and their eventual "expiration date."

Also, have you ever considered DIEP reconstruction? My aunt did it and was very happy with her results. It might be an option if you decide you don't want to go flat - although personally I am tempted to go flat sometimes too!

Best wishes to you, and I'm sure someone here will have more answers for you soon.
