Surgeon called today.
I had an abnormal mammogram on the 9th, which showed 2 lesions that did not appear to be cysts and the follow-up ultrasound (the tech literally spent less than 2 minutes looking and commented that I was young with scattered densities) was not able to identify anything cystic or solid. I got the results with my PCM on Tuesday as he closed his office due to weather and today, the surgeons office called and set me up to come in next week to talk to him about his thoughts and an exam. I was surprised as everything has been closed to hear back so soon and get in so soon- I live in a pretty rural area.
I do have a strong family history, but I'm only 32. I do have a lymph node that I can pinpoint between my breast and armpit as the source of most of the pain. I have a slight flattening/dimple underside of the left breast, pain, and have had clear discharge that turned bloody day of mammogram but since has returned clear that is scant and spontaneous, I can't make it happen. I have a tiny little lump that didn't correspond to either lesion seen. The weird thing is that the mammogram left me bruised and swollen under the left arm, which the PCM saw and said was not typical. We took pictures and he gave me a cream to reduce the swelling/bruising. I had a hysterectomy/oopherectomy 7yrs ago to lessen my chances of hyperplasia/PCOS/ENDO turning into cancer and here I am with my only girl parts left and they're acting up lol.
I guess I really just wanted to get this out there, and see if anyone had a similar journey. Or ideas? I have 2 disabled children and one requires full time care so I need to get the symptoms dealt with whether malignant or benign.

I don't have any expertise in what you're going through, but just wanted to let you know I'm praying for you!

Momto3sons, Thanks so much. I see on the bottom of yours that you're waiting on MRI results yourself. Praying for nothing but good news there! I guess I really just wanted to be able to say "hey, this is weird and I'm a little scared" without panicking anyone. My mother in law knows and my mom, because my husband had to work so I needed help with my kiddos the day I had to go for my mammogram. Otherwise I'm trying to not freak anyone out because I know with my children's history that people get tired of the crap updates. More or less I am just trying to keep myself busy so my anxiety dies down a little. Today we are tie-dying shirts for Disney. My son has fundraised through school this whole year to be able to go on his trip and it's a few weeks away. He has Autism/ADHD as well as some other health quirks, and has worked so hard to be included in typical functions so we're going! LoL
-
Thanks MayDay! Normally the center will give you results within 24 hours, but since today is a Friday the nurse said they might wait until Monday so I don't receive bad news on a Friday and then stress about it all weekend. But honestly, I'd rather know either way! My family and some close friends know the details of what I have going on, and others have a general idea that I'm going through some testing.
Have fun tie-dying the shirts! I have a son with ADHD/anxiety, so I can relate a bit. Have fun at Disney!

I am like you on that, even if it's a Friday- I want to know! I probably would prefer a Friday so I could research all weekend lol. One of the ladies at church asked me to come work next week on the appt day so I let her know why I couldn't. Anxiety in kids is AWFUL! I have anxiety but have dealt well with no medication but my son asked his therapist/counselor for something to help at night a few months ago. He is turning 12 next month and they felt something to help him sleep would be his best bet- and it has helped alot!
Honestly we can't really afford to go, as it is we're gonna be eating PB&J every day in the parks but I think we all need a break from the medical stuff and will make the best of it. The only part I dread is the drive down!
Here's hoping for news today for you, or a quick weekend! -
My son is 14, and it's taken us some time to figure out what medication works best for him. Luckily the anxiety has improved as he's gotten older, but I'm sure high school could end up bringing it back up again.
I at least get a couple of days in Orlando next week. It's for business, but I get my own hotel room - which, when you live with 4 boys, is just heaven
-
HAHA I bet that is Heaven with 4 boys! I worry about high school. Middle school was a crap transition but he found his notch working with students who are learning English as a second language so he helps them by reading instructions and spelling stuff. I'm thankful his teacher knows he's bored and to find him stuff to do, because him bored never ends well lol. I just have one son and one daughter, but my husband should count as 2 boys on his own sometimes
-
Oh, I'm totally counting my husband in with my sons! My boys are 14, 16, and 19 - and 43 if you count DH
.
Middle school was a tough change for my son as well, but high school has been better so far. He's gotten involved in some clubs and goes to a lot of sporting events, so that's helped.
-
Awesome. My son is turning 12 next month, and my daughter just turned 7 although developmentally she's in the terrible 2's. We let our son join beginner band and he likes it. Next year he is eligible to march but he does drums and his neurosurgeon said NO DRUMS/MARCHING. So he's gonna try to do the pit on the sidelines. We'll see.
-
Good luck to him! My 14 yr old did choir in 7th and 8th grade, and my 16 yr old does marching band (trumpet). It was great for them to be part of a group.
-
That's awesome! I actually marched trumpet and had a college scholarship lol. Keep us updated if you hear anything!
-
That's great! My son would love to march in college
.
Good luck with your upcoming appointment!
