3 month f/up after 3d mammogram and U/s. Is this normal?

I see many people getting called back for a 6 month check but not a 3 month. I had a 3d mammogram that showed a change from the year prior. I was then sent for an ultrasound and there is an area in the upper right quadrant that they are watching. The report shows:

At 12 o'clock 4-5 cm from the nipple, there is an amorphous hyperechoic
nonshadowing area, probably representing an island of fibroglandular
tissue. This finding corresponds to the area of focal asymmetry seen on
the comparison mammogram.

Is it unusual to get called back in 3 months? I asked why they can't just biopsy it and the ultrasound tech said because at this stage there is nothing to biopsy yet.

I am in your shoes, except they couldn't visualize on the U/S what they were trying to (however in the 2 mins she scanned, I don't think she tried very hard.) I was told to go back in 3 months for another mammogram and ultrasound of the 2 lesions they found but then the surgeon called me and wants me to come in next week so..... I dunno.

I had a similar thing happen. I had a 3D mammo and u/s a month ago. There was an area of concern on the right side (architectural distortion) that was recommended for biopsy. It was obvious on the mammogram, but not on the u/s. I did meet with a surgeon to discuss biopsy, but she wanted to see if I could get an MRI first as I have dense breasts. If that hadn't been approved, then she wanted me back in 3 months for a follow-up u/s. The MRI did end up getting approved, and I had that yesterday.

I'm still waiting on the results. I called this afternoon to check to see if they were in yet, but the tech said the radiologist was still reading the scans and dictating the report. Then it goes to my surgeon, so I'm hoping I'll hear something Monday. Thanks for asking!
