I was aware of the recent study and since my joint and muscle pain while taking Femara can be debilitating I decided to book my first acupuncture session. I have not checked into insurance coverage for the procedure and realistically unless it is covered by insurance, many will not be able to take advantage of it due to the high cost. I plan to report back on my experience.

I belong to a large, self contained HMO. As a result of the study presented at the SABCS, they now cover acupuncture for relief of AI induced pain. They have an acupuncturist on staff. I've had two sessions and some relief. Hoping future sessions continue to provide relief

Thanks for the info.! I am hoping with the latest study results that it will be covered by my insurance in the future. Glad you have found some relief

My first session was today and I am excited. The acupuncturist worked on a spot in my lower back, then applied some heat. She pressed on that area before inserting the needle and it was tender; after removing the needle a few minutes later, she touched the area and I felt no discomfort. Intriguing! I have since gone on a snowshoe with my trusty sidekick poodle named Monty and felt a bit of discomfort in that area, but oddly a different discomfort which might be the norm -I don't know. We will see how it all shakes out after a few more visits. I am open to what might happen. Sadly, I did discover that our insurance plan through my husband's employer does not cover acupuncture treatments. We are able to afford these treatments, but many others cannot. I hope this changes in the future and I am concerned for those who are not as fortunate as I am.

I looked into acupuncture after reading that it helped with AI bone/joint pain only to find out my insurance will not cover the cost.

Will be watching for changes in the future and thank those who post here about their outcomes from acu

Hi everyone, I’ve been getting acupuncture since my 6th, ( out of 12 ), taxol infusion. I initially went for neuropathy and fatigue but recently my acupuncturist has also been helping me with knee joint pain and it’s really been helping. I’ve been fortunate that my insurance has covered most of the cost

DodgersGirl~ I am hopeful that the new studies showing relief for some will increase those who are covered. I will continue with treatments and post. Best of luck to you.

Had my second acupuncture and have at least one more scheduled. The acupuncturist was able to identify some very tight (and weak) glutes which might be exacerbating my aches and pains in my back and hips. I guess more knowledge is better and identifying a problem is the only way I can start trying to make it feel better. Concentrating on stretching gluteals/hip flexors of late. I didn't notice much difference after my second session, but plan to go again next week. For those who have experienced some relief, how long did it take
