Could someone explain to me the difference between luminal a and luminal b bc? Is it possible to classify without knowing the Ki-67?

The Ki-67 isn't listed on my pathology report so I'm assuming they didn't test for it. I do know that I'm strongly ER+ positive and also strongly PR+.

Does the classification of luminal a or luminal b effect treatment? Will the oncotype test reveal if I'm luminal a or b, or do you need other tests for that?

I don't think Luminal A or B is routinely reported. There are some tests that report it, but I do not even think the classifications for it are standardized, though I could be mistaken. It seems to vary from place to place. It should not impact your treatment. Luminal B tends to be PR negative and high Ki67, but there are PR negative people I've seen that turn out to be luminal A, so I can't say for sure. Your doctor will most likely base treatment decisions on the Oncotype (or Mammaprint....either can be ordered). Best wishes!
