Armpit lump

Looking for some positive thoughts. I have a small hard lump in my armpit. Went to the doc and she says it feels like a lymph node. Scheduled this Thursday for an ultrasound and mammogram. Very nervous.

I am happy that she is having me get tested, but extremely worried and scared

    HI Lizzielee,

I just had a core biopsy on a hard lump in my breast. Worried myself silly over it because of my family history and mammo that was abnormal on opposite breast. Turns out the lump was fat necrosis and scar tissue.

I’m glad your doc is doing further testing for peace of mind rather than the wait and see approach. Positive energy being sent your way and praying for a good outcome for you. Hang in there ;0

Thank you! I have no family history, that is the one positive I am trying to focus on. It’s hard to focus on anything much else! I have a 3 1/2 year old and the what if’s are enough to drive anyone insane.

How soon do you get mammogram and ultrasound results

At the imaging center I use you get them immediately. I used to have to wait for four to five days. If it’s a facility that specializes in breast imaging you’re likely to get it immediately. Also, if you don’t feel confident in the outcome, seek a second opinion. I would also ask what your breast density is based on mammo. That they should be able to tell you then. The density can impair the clarity of the mammo or even conceal problem areas, so it’s good to know. Make sure you ask for a copy of your films and report for your own records. This speeds things along should you need to get further evaluation elsewhere and it’s a good resource for you to keep on hand to refer back to in the future. You will probably have to come back to pick them up. Hope all goes well for you

A palpable axillary node is not necessarily bad and not necessarily related to your breast. Let us know what they find.

Thank you. I know it doesn’t automatically mean it is something bad. Just nervous
