I recently DX'ed PLCIS after stereotactical biopsy. I am scheduled for excision next week. I am looking at my pathology report and I don't see much in details. It's a bit short and concise.

On the top, it says Dx is LCIS and type is pleomorphic. There are some details on the comments section below.
They ran 3 markers, p63 and SMMHC (smooth muscle myosin heavy chain) to rule out invasion, both seems strongly positive and E-cadherin which is negative and indicates lobular nature. That's all!

They neither ran hormon receptor markers for ER/PR/HER nor they did any type of genetic testing. Is this normal? Should I assume they are holding their guns for larger tissue sample? What markers need to be checked after excision?

After my biopsy I got the preliminary results of ILC and then the hormone receptors were ordered next, results I'm waiting for. I don't know why all tests weren't ordered to begin with.

I'm sorry to hear about your ILC. No doubt you'll get through it. Was this an excisional or needle biopsy? Will you need to go under another biopsy for hormone receptors or they will work it out of existing specimen? Have you considered having a second opinion from some pathology department?

BayAreaGirl - Sorry that you've found yourself here, but we're here for you. This can be the scariest time. It gets better once your treatment plan is in place.

I didn't get info on my hormone receptor status until almost a week after my initial diagnosis. It is likely they are still testing your biopsy sample and don't have those results yet.

Do you have a consult with a breast surgeon or medical oncologist scheduled yet? That is when I got info on my hormone receptor status.
