Lisa, happy birthday to your beautiful mom. That is amazing.
We just had to put my 92 year old mom in assisted living this week and it has been heartbreaking for us as she did not want to go but needed to.
Joanne, nice pic for moving in a car so fast.
Paulette, your beautiful flower pics makes me want spring to get here NOW!
-
I'm planning to promise my kids that I will shuffle off to assisted living without a fuss when they think it is necessary. I understand why people don't want to go, but making their kids feel guilty makes it worse. I hope they appreciate my gesture when the time comes. And I hope I'm "with it" enough to remember my promise.

Wren, my mom has been battling dementia for the last seven years so if she was her usual self she would not want to be a burden. I have a dear friend who is in her upper 80's and she always told me she did not want to be a burden to her family. Now she has dementia pretty bad and with some paranoia thrown into the mix she thinks her family is out to get her. It is just a very sad disease that takes it's toll probably more on the family than the person themselves.

Love the bird Lisa. Is that a woodpecker?
Love the beautiful window and view, Paulette. Love the flowers. What are the yellow ones? Makes my longing for spring even more so. We have a long ways to go yet.
-
Lisa, I love that cute little bird. Do you know what it is?
-
-
I think it's a phoebe.
-
TaRenee, nice snow shot. Cute pic.
Lisa, I was watching a documentary on hummingbirds yesterday on the National Geographic channel. Makes me more wishing spring would get here than ever!!!
I don't know if you remember the waterfall pics I shared back in the fall but after having some frigid temps this season we had a January thaw today but not enough to make these pics look like the waterfall that they really are.
-
Nancy, the yellow flowers name Angel Trumpet.
I'm from California and we don't have snow, so nice to see all these snow pictures.
Took a few flowers picture today,
I won’t know the name of the flowers on the last one.
-
I don't think I've ever seen the flowers in the 2nd one. Very unusual. Are you growing it, or did you see it out in a public garden?
-
Wren, that little bell flowers are from the Vietnamese restaurant garden which I go once a week. I love that little garden she got some unique plants there.
-
Paulette,
When I saw your flower posted I just knew I also had a picture of something similar and I found it. I took this last winter at an orchid nursery. This pic is not great and is not in clear focus but is sure looks similar. It hangs in a different way. I don't believe this nursery has other flowers besides orchids but I am not positive. There are so many thousands of varieties of orchids in the world that identifying it might be really difficult. My eye was drawn to this too as it is so unique and beautiful.
-
Nancy, it is the same flowers, it grows outdoor in my area. I always like to take picture of this plant when I go to this Vietnamese restaurant. I’m so glad we have this thread we can share our hobby and beautiful pictures.
-
:Paulette, I tried some internet searches but could find nothing similar to ID the flower. I am guessing it is some type of orchid. That is so great that you live in a climate where you can see such beauty year round. I do like the four seasons we have but the winters seem unusually long and I don't like the cold. I miss being able to photograph flowers and butterflies. I will be traveling back to see how my mom is doing in her assisted living facility. Otherwise I would be visiting this orchid nursery to take some beautiful pics during the winter.
-
Our kids could go surfing in the morning and snow boarding in the afternoon.Love living in SoCal.
-
the name of this flower is
Abutilon Tiger Eye
-
Lunch at the beach today.
Paulette, I have never seen one of those. Now I have to!.
