5 year Metaversary :-)
Today I celebrated 12/21/17 as my 5th metaversary. I had to wear sunglasses in 30 degree weather in Seattle to hide puffy eyes from crying. I woke up to a very special note from DH...in the middle of the night, he heard me crying & held me tight, just like that first night when life & being happy again seemed impossible...or even useless. I have been blessed, tired, lucky, scared, sad, defeated, uplifted, you all know the feelings. Denny 123 gave me hope that first day when I logged on to the stage 4 boards and she was celebrating 10 years...that was my first glimpse of hope. I owe you all, on earth and those who've passed on, a piece of my heart...you have been my soulmates. I have the most wonderful family, friends, medical team, church family, and yet...you help me feel I'm never alone.
I had my last herceptin in August. My onc said other drs may consider him careless, but he feels I've been NED long enough to justify trying to be free of that drug...for as long as I can. If needed, it will be there for me. I know Jen has followed this same path...which gave me an extra boost of confidence. Fingers crossed :-)
Love to all...hoping you celebrate the season in your most favorite ways, with your most favorite people close. May 2018 hold blessings that make you smile. XOXO Ronnie

Thank you for this post. I still feel new to the Stage IV world and am struggling with it. You have given me hope that many good years are still possible. I wish you continued NED and send my grateful, heartfelt thanks. May 2018 be ridiculously good for all of us!

RonnieKay -- Congratulations, and I hope that you have many, many more years NED. My 5 year cancerversary (stage 4 de novo though we didn't realize it for a couple months) was in July of this month, and you expressed so well the emotions that I had (still have) about reaching that milestone.
-
RonnieKay, Thank you for that beautiful post. It is wonderful to hear stories like yours that give us all so much hope. Congratulations for reaching this milestone, a milestone that holds so much significance for mbc'ers. I wish you many, many more years with NED.
Hugs and prayers from, Lynne

Ronnie, so terrific you are celebrating your 5th year dealing with this shit. Ha, ha, I cannot really describe it another way except to add more expletives!
Is it not amazing how much life, with all of its many twists and turns, has happened in that time? Today, the 22nd, is the day I mark as the big turning point for me; it is when I first felt the lump which led to the stage iv dx several weeks later. That was in 2010. You can do the math!
May the Gods and Goddesses of Heaven bless us all!!!
-
Thank you, Ronnie. Congratulations!
Celebrating for you,
Tina
