Increasing pain & dr won't biopsy cyst

Feeling frustrated. I began to get breast pain about 6 months ago. Bought new bras thought well maybe it's the mirena iud but then found a lump 2 1/2 months ago, and the pain has gradually intensified. Was seen by OBGYN and she confirmed she felt the lump. Went for mammogram and ultrasound and they could only see dense tissue. Doctor said come back if there are any changes.

2 months later and pain is worse and lump has doubled in size, and now my nipple looks different - like it's pushed out by the lump near it (it's just left of). ObGYn orders me back to breast clinic for another ultrasound with biopsy. This time they see cysts and very Dense enlarged tissue. No biggie dr says, you're fine. I ask about biopsy and he says there's nothing to biopsy

I feel frustrated. Do they not biopsy cysts? Why is it continuing to grow and the pain intensifying? He gave me no suggestions. Comeback in a year. It's prob just hormones or stress. This doesn't change with my cycle. I'm so baffled. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I've had several cysts aspirated. They generally don't send the fluid to be biopsied unless it looks suspicious. That being said, I'm confused as why your doctor won't aspirate the cyst if it's bothering you. I also have dense breasts with many cysts. Anytime a cyst becomes to large and is bothering me, they sent me for ultrasound and aspirate it. Have they mentioned aspirating it

My sister had a lump, which we both felt. She was 30 at the time. Because we had family members with history of breast cysts, we agreed that this lump was most likely a cyst. But....I told her to go see her Dr., and She did!!. Her primary Dr that is. He recommended that she get off coffee, sugar, and stress! He also said she probably should have a mammogram, as it was holidays and she was headed to Ha. She had mammogram and very quickly received a letter from radiologist/and primary Dr. suggesting she see a surgeon immediately. I told her to go to Ha. anyways, and see a surgeon there. She did. A few days before Christmas, she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer and she had a mastectomy right away. Realize that this was in 1988. Things are much different now. There is so much more information, and testing to ease womens fears and concerns. A cyst can be aspirated. I would request this. Then the fluid can be sent to a lab, and you will have some peace. Find another Dr. if yours will not do this, or refer you for this simple procedure. You are paying this Dr. to work for you on your behalf. If you are not satisfied.....move on to another professional who will listen to you. I wish you all the luck, and courage to find a Dr. who WILL biopsy your cyst.

Am I getting it that the issue is more the continued pain than the cyst? Get a second opinion.

No, they don't usually biopsy simple cysts because they are benign. Ask for the aspiration

Both my breasts are filled with cysts. Cysts are common and yes they can grow. Even though I can't feel most of them, the nurses could. I was given the same advice as poster above - lay off caffeine and chocolate.

I did also have a growth that needed to be biopsied. The nurse who did the ultrasound showed me the difference on how a typical cyst appears and how an abnormal cysts appears. So no, unfortunately they do not biopsy a "normal" looking cysts. A "normal" cyst appears like a black hole on the screen. An abnormal one appears almost shaded, and even that has to have a certain outline for it to appear abnormal enough to suggest a biopsy.
